About the Role

We are hiring a hands-on Senior Mechanical / Tooling Engineer with a strong mechatronics and materials design background to join our rapidly expanding automation team. Dandy's Automation team is responsible for designing and building our factory automation and robotics equipment. This highly visible role will be instrumental in innovating, developing, and deploying automated systems to achieve ambitious and leading quality standards in the dental industry. 

What You'll Do

• You will design and develop novel fixturing and tooling for holding and presenting dental products to manual operations, machines, and automation systems.

• You will be responsible for including design and procurement of components, prototype assembly and software development to demonstrate full functionality. 

• Design and fabricate electromechanical fixtures and robotics in-house that can help inform and drive automation systems for high volume manufacturing.

• Perform the research and development on new technologies necessary to tackle complex manufacturing processes that have direct impact to the quality and delivery of Dandy’s products

• Responsible for the completion of technical design tasks from definition to deployment through proof of concept. 

• Innovate factory processes, concepts, and design to enable an ideal automated manufacturing and measurement processes for Dandy’s products. 

• Supporting design reviews and FMEA of vendors automation concepts and provide technical guidance

• Once proven, work with 3rd party machine builders to transfer concepts, designs, methods and software for scaling. 

What We're Looking For

• B.S/M.S in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Metallurgy; or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability

• 10+ years of experience designing fixtures and tooling for manufacturing processes and automated systems for volume manufacturing. 

• Evaluate designs via prototype, testing and rigorous mathematical analysis. 

• Ability to lead concept, design and proof of concept work with minimal supervision and guidance. 

• Strong CAD/Solidworks, drafting practices, GD&T, and tolerance analysis experience. 

• Knowledge of and exposure to product testing and data collection 

• Experience designing fixtures and tooling for heat treatment processes 

• Experience working with Ceramics and Wax materials 

• Ability and willingness to travel internationally

Compensation Range: $190K - $230K
