The Opportunity

As an External Geometry Tire Design Engineer, you will be responsible for defining and creating tread and sidewall designs that bring tire concepts to life. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams across product development, manufacturing, quality, and industrialization to deliver designs that meet performance goals while ensuring efficient and robust production.

What You Will Do

Design and develop 3D CAD models for tire tread and sidewall geometries.

Create parametric master models that support the development of complete tire families and product lines.

Define designs that satisfy performance requirements while accounting for manufacturing and mold design constraints.

Develop and maintain user documentation that facilitates model deployment and design standardization.

Collaborate with product designers, manufacturing teams, quality engineers, and industrial partners to resolve design and production challenges.

Monitor manufacturing and quality results to validate design performance and identify improvement opportunities.

Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance design quality, efficiency, and process robustness.

Develop new methods, digital tools, and innovative approaches that improve engineering workflows.

Create visual training materials, guide technical design classes, and design documentation to support knowledge transfer and training.

Anticipate technical risks and proactively develop solutions to support project success.

Mentor and support new team members through coaching, training, and sharing best practices.

What You Will Bring

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or another engineering or technical field.

Experience with 3D CAD modeling and parametric design principles.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-functional environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across teams and organizational levels.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Curiosity and a continuous improvement approach with a passion for innovation and design.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software applications and internal systems.

Ability to successfully complete Michelin Design School training and certification (approximately nine weeks).

Preferred qualifications:

·       Experience with CATIA or similar 3D CAD software.

·       Experience with scripting, programming, automation, Power BI, or data management tools.

·       Knowledge of manufacturing, quality systems, product development, or process improvement methodologies.

·       Experience creating technical documentation, training materials, or visual communication tools.
