POSITION PURPOSE: To provide safe play-based and engaging educational activities for children during aftercare hours.

 Qualifications:

  • A genuine love of children and a desire to provide enriching activities through crafts, bible, gardening and/or reading.
  • Experience working with children in a school or church setting.
  • Familiarity with Christian values and a commitment to upholding the school's religious principles.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with students, parents, and staff.
  • Flexibility, patience, and adaptability to care for various grade levels.
  • Work well independently and within a team.
  • Successful completion of Tennessee Department of Education onboarding requirements; background checks, medical clearance, and required training or certifications. 

Requirements

  

The following duties are normal for this position and other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Supervise students during the hours of 2:45 pm – 5:30 pm. 
  • Maintain classroom discipline by upholding the school's code of conduct and implementing effective classroom management strategies. 
  • Ensure all students understand extended care rules and follow them.
  • Foster a nurturing and Christ-centered environment that encourages student participation and spiritual growth. 
  • Document any relevant observations or incidents during aftercare.
  • Protect the safety and well-being of students, following school procedures and protocols.
  • Treat all students with respect, fairness, and in a manner consistent with Christian principles.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration. 
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect students, materials, and facilities.
  • Create a stimulating learning environment, including displays of student work. 
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
