As Chapter Lead, you will lead a specialist chapter of data scientists working across Gen AI, agentic AI and machine learning in diversified portfolios and business units scaling safer and responsible AI solutions. You will shape technical direction, guide architecture and design decisions, strengthen delivery practices, and grow the capability of the team. You will work with advanced data science, software engineering and AI platform teams that come together to solve complex problems at scale.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will help move ideas from experimentation through evaluation, validation, deployment and ongoing monitoring, while ensuring solutions are safe, scalable and effective in a regulated environment.

You will join a highly technical data science team developing machine learning and emerging AI capabilities that help protect customers from fraud and scams. The team works closely with product, engineering, platform, architecture, MLOps and risk partners to deliver trusted solutions that operate reliably at scale.

In this role, you will:
- Lead the design, development and deployment of machine learning, Gen AI and agentic AI solutions, applying advanced statistical methods and structured problem solving to deliver strategic business outcomes and improve customer experiences.
- Drive solutions from experimentation to production while designing and implementing Gen AI capabilities such as RAG, orchestration, guardrails and agentic AI systems.
- Partner across products, engineering, architecture, platform, MLOps, risk and business teams to define problems assess technical trade-offs and expand the responsible use of data science, machine learning and AI.
- Establish and uplift technical excellence across the chapter, leading best practices while coaching and developing data scientists through technical leadership, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
We are interested in hearing from people with:
- Proven experience leading teams across machine learning, Gen AI and agentic AI initiatives, technically driving strategy, execution and technical excellence in complex environments.
- Strong technical foundations in statistics, probability, machine learning and AI, supported by a tertiary qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, developing, deploying and evaluating production-grade AI solutions using LLMs, NLP and conversational AI, and the ability to interpret, evaluate and explain model behaviour.
- Advanced engineering and platform expertise in scaling production outcomes using Python, MLOps, SQL and machine learning/deep learning frameworks, with experience integrating AI solutions into enterprise data pipelines.
- Practical deployment using cloud technologies (AWS or Azure), CI/CD, containerisation, monitoring and observability, responsible AI, model governance and risk management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across business and risk contexts, influence senior stakeholders and translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
