Export Control Specialist

Position Summary
ACE Controls, a world-leading supplier of industrial damping technology, and Destaco, a global leader in the design and manufacturer of high-performance automation, work holding, and remote handling solutions, are seeking an experienced Export Control Specialist to lead and support U.S. export compliance activities across relevant U.S. locations. This role will serve as the company’s primary internal resource for export compliance and will help ensure the business follows U.S. laws and regulations related to shipping products, sharing technical information, screening customers and end users, and supporting government-related business requirements.
This position will oversee and improve core export compliance processes, including product classification, export filing requirements, customer and restricted party screening, government registrations, training, and internal compliance procedures. The role will work closely with teams across Operations, Engineering, Sales, Procurement, Logistics, Legal, and Compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary internal contact for U.S. export compliance matters at ACE Controls and Destaco.
- Support compliance with U.S. export laws covering both defense-related and commercial products and technology.
- Manage product classification, export filing requirements, and export-related documentation processes.
- Lead customer, supplier, and end-user screening activities, including review and escalation of potential compliance concerns.
- Support government-related compliance requirements, including contract review and required company registrations.
- Develop, deliver, and track export compliance training for key business functions.
- Monitor regulatory changes and help implement updates to company processes and controls.
- Maintain export compliance records and support internal reviews, audits, and corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
- Must be legally eligible to access U.S. export-controlled information under U.S. law.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in export compliance within a defense, aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or similar regulated environment.
- Experience supporting product classification, export licensing, export filings, and internal compliance guidance.
- Experience with U.S. government export registration and license application processes.
- Experience with export filing systems and export documentation requirements.
- Experience reviewing customer requirements tied to government or defense-related business.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple business functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience serving in a formal export compliance leadership or decision-making role.
- Experience supporting defense-related export control processes and controlled technical information procedures.
- Experience managing customer and restricted party screening programs.
- Experience working with both defense-controlled and commercially controlled products.
- Experience with SAP, Oracle, or similar business systems used for product and compliance data.
- Experience building or improving compliance procedures in a manufacturing environment.
