Job Description

Subject Matter Expert – Export Classification

We are seeking a seasoned Export Classification Specialist with expertise in gas turbine engine technology to join our team. In this role, you will ensure compliance with export control regulations by accurately classifying products, software, and technology under the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR). You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, legal, and customs authorities, to ensure seamless export operations and compliance with international trade laws.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Analysis:

  • Review product specifications, blueprints, and technical documentation to assess functionality and capabilities.

• Export Control Classification:

  • Assign appropriate Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) using the Commerce Control List (CCL) based on technical attributes.

• License and Compliance Review:

  • Identify license requirements based on ECCN, end-user, and destination country; support export license applications as needed.

• Stakeholder Training:

  • Provide training to internal teams on export control regulations and proper classification procedures.

• Audit and Documentation Support:

  • Assist in internal and external audits; maintain accurate export classification records and documentation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in export classification with a focus on gas turbine engine technology.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and international trade laws.

• Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting complex technical data.

• Technical expertise in engineering, electronics, or software relevant to gas turbine engines.

• Familiarity with tools like TeamCenter, DDM, DocAccess, and xClass (required).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively.

• Exceptional communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams and explaining regulatory concepts.

• U.S. Citizenship is required due to system/tool access restrictions.
