The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) team is seeking an Experienced Metrology Test & Evaluation Engineer to join our team in San Antonio, TX.
As a Metrology engineer you will have an important and exciting role in the company that could include engaging with the factory and other engineers, working with large-volume advanced manufacturing machines, engaging with outside vendors of test equipment, designing and building test fixtures, programming software, and developing procedures to test new equipment. You will tackle new and challenging problems every day.
Metrology is the science of measurement and includes all theoretical and practical aspects of measurement. Metrology engineering covers the basic understanding of how measurement accuracy and precision impacts our ability to make repeatable and reproducible measurements throughout Boeing, basic understanding of the importance of measurement traceability and the role calibration plays in establishing traceability, and the quality systems that support these processes.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Develops solutions to calibration systems problems of moderate scope and impact
- Makes routine contacts with customers
- Utilizes appropriate tools, processes and procedures
- Assists with the design of calibration systems
- Aids in the development of data processing tools and algorithms
- Authors calibration procedures and conducts measurement uncertainty evaluations
- Calibration data analysis. Conducts calibration data validity using established Metrology practices and procedures
- Measurement uncertainty evaluation and equipment service interval analysis
- Develops project plans using the principles of project management and performance goals
- Gathers and analyzes requirements for measurement and test equipment calibration
- Aids with the calibration and certification of tools and measurement and test equipment
- Support maintenance of the calibration system
- Supports maintenance of reference standards traceability, calibration procedures and software
- Develops solutions to emergent requirements during day-to-day activities
- Supports the development and verification of test methods.
- Develops detailed test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition, needed to perform the test and minimize risk within the constraints of the test plan
- Designs test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements
- Uses analytical tools to verify the design.
- Reviews test data, including off-nominal data, for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer
- Prepares and publishes test reports to document test results and satisfy requirements. Presents test results internally
- Trains others. Works under general direction
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Experience with dimensional, force, mass, pressure, linear measurements, temperature, vacuum, and/or other physical metrology processes
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience in Project Management and/or technical integration
- Experience building relationships with internal/external customers
- Quality standards familiarity - Boeing QMS, AS9100 and other applicable standards

Summary Pay Range: $103,700 - $140,300
