The purpose of the General Ledger (GL) accountant is to ensure correct accounting information and reporting mainly in the area of inventory and intercompany. You will gather and verify the accuracy of financial data and reconcile accounts. This role also ensures that strong controls are applied in compliance with the company’s SOX and internal control framework.
Tasks and responsibilities
What You’ll Do:
- Prepare and review reconciliations (monthly, quarterly) on inventory and intercompany accounts.
- Reconciling accounts with the general ledger.
- Execute month- and quarter end closing activities – perform account analysis to make sure entries and balances are correct.
- Analyze and interpret financial information to provide assurance that information complies with professional and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.
- Entering financial data such as accruals, deferrals and reclassifications into the ledger, as well as preparing reports.
- Gathering supporting documentation and performing recordkeeping.
- Internal controls/compliance: ensure that internal and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) controls are adhered to and performed in a timely matter.
- Assisting in the preparation of the audit files and annual accounts.
- Preparation & filing of surveys.
- Assisting in the preparation of the TAX declarations and forms.
Required knowledge, skills & abilities
Formal qualifications and experience- University or Bachelor degree in Finance or related subject area preferred
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- SAP & or Peoplesoft knowledge is a strong plus
- Strong general accounting skills (statutory and international standards)
- Ability to work within a complex and changing environment
- Good knowledge of Microsoft PC Tools (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio…)
- Strong quantitative and analytical capability
- Fluent in written and spoken English, Dutch and French
- Can work independently but is also an excellent team player
- Strong customer orientation (Countries, Businesses and Functions)

Location
- 3 days/week homeworking
- 2 days/week based in Zaventem
