The Role
Lead design system strategy for agentic products by prioritizing components, identifying experience gaps, translating requirements into reusable cross-platform assets, and coordinating delivery across teams. Influence stakeholders, promote inclusive and accessible design, mentor designers, analyze trends and research, and guide design direction. The role also requires expertise in Figma, conversation design, AI-assisted workflows, and design system governance.
Summary Generated by Built In

As an Experience Design Vice President on the Design System team, you will play a pivotal role in connecting agentic product needs with design system strategy. You will translate product requirements into reusable design system components, proactively identify gaps where new components or patterns are needed, and coordinate across teams to drive delivery. This role sits within the design system organization and serves as the primary design bridge to agentic product teams — requiring strong influence skills to align both sides and knowing when to engage the right stakeholders across the design system, partner teams, and leadership.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the intake and prioritization of agentic components and patterns into the design system, refining requirements, creating milestones, and coordinating delivery across teams
  • Proactively identify gaps in the design system's coverage of agentic experiences and propose enhancements to address them
  • Translate agentic product requirements into reusable, cross-platform design system assets — diagrams, wireframes, prototypes, and component specifications
  • Coordinate and influence across teams to ensure the right stakeholders are engaged at the right time
  • Role-model the adoption of inclusive design practices and accessibility guidelines; mentor junior designers and foster a culture of diversity and inclusion
  • Analyze agentic experience trends, gather feedback from user research, and leverage data insights to inform design direction and optimize experiences across platforms and channels

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 5+ years of experience or equivalent expertise in user experience design, design systems, or similar roles
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous and emerging product areas — comfortable defining direction when requirements are unclear or evolving
  • Strong planning, coordination, and program management skills; able to manage intake workflows, stakeholder relationships, and cross-team logistics alongside experience strategy
  • Demonstrated experience designing for cross-platform (iOS, Android, Web), with a strong understanding of platform-specific capabilities and constraints
  • Technical literacy in AI and agentic experiences — understanding of how AI assistants, chatbots, and agent-driven workflows behave, and ability to translate these concepts into design requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in inclusive design and accessibility guidelines, with the ability to incorporate diverse perspectives and abilities into design solutions
  • Proven ability to influence multiple stakeholder groups with competing priorities

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Figma expertise; advanced proficiency using Figma’s design system features (components, variables, auto layout)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including rationale and storytelling that persuades senior leaders or aligns multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in conversation design, chatbot UX, and/or multi-modal interaction patterns
  • Experience working within or alongside a design system team, contributing to component libraries, pattern documentation, or governance processes
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating AI and agentic tools into design workflows, with measurable impact on quality, efficiency, or outcomes
