SUMMARY

The Expeditor is responsible for the cleanliness of the construction site through cleaning by yourself at times or coordinating day laborers and subcontractors to remove waste materials. Expeditors are often tasked with the delivery of equipment and materials to construction sites and assist in unloading trucks. An important role of an Expeditor is working to complete punch lists from owners and architects towards the end of a project. Expeditors also need to be capable of operating tools and equipment in a safe manner to complete their work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The ability to comprehend and prioritize the daily tasks given from the Construction Manager.
  • Have a good working relationship with subcontractors and fellow employees.
  • Good organization skills for product and material receiving.
  • Manage subcontractors and fellow employees in the completion of punch lists.
  • Participate in demolitions.
  • Assist in servicing equipment and tools.
  • Help in implementing OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Keeping construction sites clean inside and out.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in construction is preferred.
  • Ability to read a SAE and metric tape measure.
  • Comfortably and safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and standards.
  • Computer literate.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to multi-task projects
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups or individuals.
  • Regular and consistent attendance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Highschool diploma, construction experience preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction documents and contracts. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, & customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Heavy lifting will be required at times.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The job is performed outdoors and indoors on construction sites with occasional time spent in an office setting.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Must be aware and conform to all safety requirements when in the building, operating motor vehicles, or in the field performing duties for the company.
