POSITION:               Executive Office Assistant (2 positions)

SALARY:                   $28.32-$32.84, per hour

REPORTS TO:        Chief of Staff

LOCATION:               Nespelem, WA 

 

Basic Functions:      This is a Non-Exempt position. This is a professional position that provides executive level support to the Colville Business Council under the supervision of the Centralized Services Director’s office. The Council Office Executive Assistant is responsible for organizing, managing and supervising all business activities necessary to provide CBC Executive Committee members with timely, professional, efficient and accurate information, service, records, reports, schedules, and other functions, necessary to meet their goals and professional needs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Training: 

  • The position typically requires an AA degree from an accredited college or university in Business Management, Accounting, Human Resource, Organizational Development, Office Technology or a related field,
  • AND 24-48 months’ experience in comparable position with progressively responsible experience and duties that reflect the ability to perform the duties of this position.

License and Certificates: 

  • Requires a valid driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ insurance. Must maintain license and insurance eligibility throughout employment. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Requires. knowledge of office machines and PC with associated software and programs to perform duties.
  • Requires knowledge of Tribal government operations and Reservation/cultural issues and values.
  • Requires knowledge and experience working with Federally recognized Tribes or Tribal Organization is preferred.
  • Requires knowledge and experience in maintaining multiple and complex schedules, drafting correspondence, preparing professional level presentation materials and position papers.
  • Requires knowledge and experience working with budget planning, preparation, approvals, reconciliation, tracking and reporting with accuracy and meeting strict deadlines; procurement/contracts, RFP’s.
  • Requires the ability to communicate both verbal & written, proficient in Standard English grammar, spelling and speech; advance writing skills to communicate basic to highly technical information.
  • Requires the ability to organize, plan and carry out events, projects and activities.
  • Requires the ability to schedule and record meetings, transcription, maintaining records of meetings.
  • Requires the ability to conduct fact-finding, research and interviews.  
  • Requires the skill and ability to work with a diverse group or individuals including the ability to resolve conflict, work as a team member, cooperate with others in the performance of their duties, coordinate activities, greet and respond to the public, provide technical assistance and instructions, resolve complaints, protect confidential information, and be accountable for actions. 
  • The position incumbent must be able to function indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. 
  • Requires ambulatory ability to sit for extended periods of time, to utilize microcomputers and peripheral equipment, accomplish other desktop work.  
  • Requires the ability to use near vision to read printed materials and projected screens.   
  • Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone.
  • Requires the ability to retrieve work materials from overhead, waist, and ground level files. 
  • Requires manual and finger dexterity to write, use a pointing device and keyboard at an acceptable rate, operate microcomputer, and to operate other standardized office equipment, requiring repetitive motions. 
  • Ability to drive in adverse weather.
  •  Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. 
  • Requires the ability to travel and work non-standard work hours as assigned or delegated.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

 

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

 

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance.  In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances.  If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.

Skills Required
