You will also support marquee Global Technology initiatives spanning AI leadership, cyber resilience, open-source innovation, talent, and regulatory and public policy engagement, ensuring consistent messaging and flawless execution across the firm.
As an Executive Director, Technology External Communications, within Corporate Communications you will help to shape and elevate JPMorganChase’s story as a global technology leader. You will lead strategic external communications across priority areas including AI, cybersecurity, software engineering, infrastructure resiliency and emerging technologies, translating complex technical work into clear, differentiated narratives for media, policymakers, clients, industry stakeholders, and employees. In addition you will be a seasoned communications leader with deep experience leading external communications for technology organizations—within a large enterprise, leading technology company, or agency supporting technology clients. You will bring a strong record in stakeholder communications and media relations, with demonstrated success delivering high-impact earned media and be an integral partner with sharp judgement and insight, you advise senior leaders on reputation, policy, and industry issues, and translate complex technical topics into clear, compelling narratives.
Job responsibilities
- Develop and execute communications strategies and messaging that advance JPMorganChase’s reputation as a leader in technology, innovation, cybersecurity, AI and other technologies. Manage communications support for high-profile technology initiatives, innovation programs, cybersecurity efforts, and strategic partnerships.
- Analyze communications performance, media coverage, stakeholder sentiment, and industry developments to continuously refine strategy and maximize impact. Proactively identify opportunities to elevate the firm’s technology leadership position with media, policymakers, industry influencers, investors, employees, and other key stakeholders.
- Lead integrated communications campaigns across earned media, executive communications, thought leadership, social media, owned channels, speaking opportunities, and industry events. Translate complex technical concepts, products, research, and business initiatives into clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate narratives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Senior Technology Executives on messaging, stakeholder engagement, reputation management including social media, and emerging issues. Partner closely with Global Technology leaders, lines of business, public policy, legal, marketing, and communications teams to ensure strategic alignment and execution.
- Oversee proactive and reactive media engagement, including crisis and issues management involving technology, cyber, regulatory, and innovation-related topics.
- Establish clear priorities, operating rhythms, and performance expectations for a team of technology communications professionals. Be an influential member of a high-performing team while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 12+ years of experience in technology communications, public relations, corporate communications, public affairs, or a related field.
- Experience working within a technology company or supporting technology clients through an agency, consulting, or corporate communications role.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing communications strategies around technology, innovation, AI, cybersecurity, cloud, software engineering, infrastructure, or related topics.
- Proven leader of high-profile media relations programs and securing impactful earned media coverage.
- Strong understanding of the technology landscape, including public policy and regulatory circumstances (e.g., related to AI, cybersecurity, privacy, and innovation).
- Experience advising senior executives and technology leadership teams on communications strategy, reputation management, and executive visibility.
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, content development, and presentation skills.
- Ability to successfully navigate complex, matrixed organizations and build alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience managing large-scale communications initiatives with significant reputational impact.
