J.P. Morgan Wealth Management is seeking a talented and experienced communications professional to help lead external communications for the business. As a Communications Executive Director supporting US Wealth Management (USWM), you will help define and execute the external communications strategy, working directly with our Head of External and Executive Communications and with executives.
As an Executive Director in USWM Communications, you will be part of a rapidly growing business and help define the way we show up externally. You will have the ability to drive meaningful results and communicate complex information in a simple and compelling manner. You should be adept at working through complexity, handling multiple initiatives, and collaborating effectively with executives and partners, as well as driving consistently high performance in teams. You will report to the Head of External and Executive Communications for J.P. Morgan Wealth Management and work closely with executives, partners and peers across Consumer & Community Banking and JPMorganChase.
Job responsibilities
- Serve as counsel to J.P. Morgan Wealth Management executives in shaping external communications.
- Research and distill data and financial information, write and design presentations in PowerPoint and other presentation tools and prepare talking points and other communication tools for senior leaders.
- Help to define and carry out Wealth Management external media relations, including PR campaigns focused on new initiatives and developments, as well as ongoing media relations, press events and executive visibility.
- Partner closely with firmwide Communications colleagues, business partners and others across the firm to build and execute strategies that enhance our reputation, build trust and advocate for the firm’s business priorities and ensure alignment of messaging and strategy.
- Lead and oversee the work of a team of talented communications professionals, inspire performance excellence and foster a collaborative team culture.
- Develop and foster relationships at all levels internally including senior-level executives, functional partners across legal, risk, controls and compliance, and firmwide communications peers and the broader team.
- Protect and enhance the reputation of our firm through proactive storytelling, reactive issue management and development and reinforcement of proper communications controls.
- Serve as a member of the Consumer and Community Banking Communications Extended Leadership Team.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- 10+ years of experience in corporate communications with a commercial orientation and deep understanding of financial services
- Experience in providing counsel to senior executives and superior judgment, with ethics of the highest caliber and a commitment to upholding the culture of doing the right thing for clients, stakeholders and employees
- Demonstrated expertise in managing external/media relations and established media relationships
- Strong people management experience with demonstrated history of growing and developing talent
- Strong understanding of, and experience with, highly regulated industries
- Superb written and verbal communications skills, a creative mindset and ability to generate new ideas
- Speed, flexibility and adaptability and ability to lead a team under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding judgment, problem-solving ability and resourcefulness
- Strong interpersonal, networking and presentation skills
