Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac on a full-time basis.
The Role
In this exciting new role, the EV high voltage battery technician specializes in the safe and orderly preparation, testing and disassembly of Reserve Energy Storage System (RESS) also known as EV Battery Packs, within a teardown cell environment.
Our team is looking for a candidate that is passionate about an all-electric future. The activity and results we produce are used to determine the root cause of failed components to develop and implement corrective actions in production.
As a High Voltage Technician, you will demonstrate basic knowledge, skills, training, and learning ability that you can use in other Engineering organizations.
What You'll Do
- Champion safe disassembly of high voltage EV battery assemblies and related components while capturing failure cause and findings.
- Assist with logistics, crating/uncrating and preliminary tests on high voltage battery assemblies.
- Perform physical duties involving large and heavy high voltage batteries including rigging, movement, shipping, and disposal using forklift and overhead crane equipment.
- As part of the Field Response Team, travel to dealer locations to root cause and disassemble unstable to ship battery packs on site rendering them to a stable state. This will require regular short-term travel, approx. 25%
- Maintain records on work performed including data collected or analyzed.
- Maintain awareness of Business Plan Deployment goals and objectives, identify and suggest relevant opportunities for improvement.
- Develop, implement, and sustain workplace organization practices
- Communication of findings with engineering personnel through verbal and written means
- Recommend revisions to process and procedures to improve safety and efficiency
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Associate's degree or equivalent in the mechanical or electrical field
- 2 years related work experience.
- Detailed knowledge of complex mechanical and/or electrical concepts
- Ability to Perform physical duties involving lifting movement of battery modules and crates.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to travel by air and to safely drive a vehicle, with no license restrictions. Approximately 25% travel
- Competence with typical office computer applications, e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of high voltage battery systems and safe work practices
- High Voltage 2B Certified.
- CFR 49 Hazardous Material Certified
- Experience with basic high voltage test equipment, measuring and recording devices.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronics diagnostics and repair
