Bridgewater College is seeking an energetic and strategic leader to build and grow our varsity esports program. The Esports Program Director will oversee recruiting, team development, facility operations, events, and community engagement while creating an inclusive environment where student-athletes can thrive academically, socially, and competitively.
This role is ideal for someone who understands collegiate esports, enjoys mentoring students, and is excited to help shape a growing program with campus-wide impact.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Recruit and support student-athletes
- Partner with Admissions to recruit students with strong academic and competitive potential.
- Build relationships with high school coaches, esports organizations, and community partners.
- Represent the program at school visits, tournaments, open houses, and outreach events.
- Help the program meet annual enrollment goals through proactive recruiting and engagement.
Lead the varsity esports program
- Develop short- and long-term goals for program growth and competitive success.
- Set expectations and policies for student-athletes in line with college and league standards.
- Monitor student participation, academic progress, and conduct.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, sportsmanship, accountability, and teamwork.
- Plan and coordinate competition schedules for fall and spring seasons.
Manage the esports facility and operations
- Oversee daily operation and scheduling of practice and competition spaces.
- Coordinate maintenance, upgrades, and technology improvements.
- Manage the program budget, including equipment, software, uniforms, and league fees.
- Identify sponsorship opportunities and support program visibility efforts.
Enhance events, broadcasts, and marketing
- Oversee match broadcasts and streaming quality in collaboration with student staff.
- Guide students in graphics, commentary, production, and event operations.
- Maintain an active social media presence highlighting matches, achievements, and student stories.
- Promote the program through campus outreach and community engagement.
Advise the student esports club
- Serve as advisor to the student esports club and support a welcoming environment for all skill levels.
- Encourage collaboration between varsity teams and club members through shared events and mentorship opportunities.
- Assist with tournaments, campus programming, and community-building activities.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in esports program leadership, coaching, student development, athletics, gaming community management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to mentor and motivate students in a collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of esports competition structures, streaming platforms, and gaming technology.
- Experience with social media strategy and digital content creation.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple priorities effectively.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience recruiting students in a collegiate setting.
- Background in event production, live streaming, or broadcast management.
- Experience supervising student employees, graduate assistants, or volunteers.
