Job Description

  • Overall responsibility for developing standard product insourced ESP VSD drive designs, focusing on:
  • Technical design
    • Implementing lessons learned
    • Transfer of designs to manufacturing and supporting the inhouse prototype sourcing and manufacture of completed designs including minimizing stranded inventory.
    • Expediting the design and qualification process
    • Minimizing overall cost to build
    • Functionality and reliability requirements (including ease of installation and maintenance in the field)
    • Design for manufacture
    • Project Management of the VSD drive design process to meet scope, budget and timeline requirements.
  • Managing the relationships with subcontract design engineers and in-house offshore design resources, to include
    • Technical/Functional direction of design resources
    • Building the in-house offshore team to meet the workload requirements, including training and guidance
  • Collaborating with product management to define the feasibility, cost functional design specifications, and maintenance requirements of new insourced products or product enhancements
  • Preferred skills:
    • Thermodynamics/Heat calcs
    • Strong background in mechanical and electrical fundamentals
    • Knowledge of Industry standards – e.g. UL508A, IEC, CSA and translating them into design requirements
    • Knowledge of IP and NEMA enclosure Protection Ratings
    • Best practices for drive and drive enclosure designs
    • Understanding of field requirements for VSD Installation, operation and maintenance
  • Experience:
    • Engineering degree
    • Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience
