The Environmental Health Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Memphis and Pocola sites have effective EHS systems that minimize risk to personnel, property, environment, and the business, while at a minimum abiding to all applicable regulations.
Focus areas for the position are compliance with regulatory, corporate and internal ESSHQ requirements including management of changes to those requirements, ISO, Responsible Care and Energy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
LEADERSHIP
• Share leadership in site improvement efforts and general management of the facility consistent with
the stated beliefs, values, and behavioral standards of the site.
• To ensure compliance with all EHS regulations
• To manage EHS expenses and capital budget
• To provide effective service to all levels of the organization
ESH Compliance
• Participate in corporate EHS Compliance audits.
• Manage audit findings in ESTER system
• Management of site routine task JSA process – use of site procedure and JSR ESTER module
• Participate in the monthly AO ESH meetings.
• Participate NA ESH meetings
PLANT SAFETY
• To perform safety assessment for all plant operations
• To ensure plant readiness and response plan for all types of emergencies
• Maintain site ER information current
• Assist with ER Exercises and follow-up
• To ensure effective training programs are executed and maintained
• To oversee incident investigation program and training of managers, employees, etc.
• To develop, maintain and communicate site safety metrics
• To ensure routine inspections are done timely and effectively, including but not limited to inspections
of fire extinguisher, eye wash stations, satellite accumulation storages, etc.
• Required to wear appropriate safety & personal protective equipment at all times, including
respiratory protection
RC 14001, Responsible Care
• RC14001 (ESH) system management.
• Participate in internal and external audits.
• Provide ISO indoctrination training to new hires
• Manage audit recommendations
• Ensure top level documents are up to date.
• Ensuring management system documents are up to date to changes to Standards.
ISO 50001 (Energy) system management
• Participate in internal and external audits.
• Provide ISO indoctrination training to new hires (or ensure presentation is up to date).
• Manage audit recommendations in ESTER system
Ensure top level documents are up to date.
• Ensuring management system documents are up to date to changes to Standards.
PSM System
‐ Overall management of PSM documents
‐ Manage PSS/PHA recommendations in ESTER
Environmental and DOT
• To ensure all environmental permits are maintained and current
• To manage all on-site inspections
• To ensure site activities are within EHS permit limits
• To oversee waste shipments and ensure that Federal and Provincial regulations are met
• To lead and continuously improve all environmental and health & safety programs
Management of Change
• To review and approve MOC’s from a EHS perspective
• To participate in new process development or modification efforts to determine the impact upon
EHSQ
• To propose new product specifications including MOC preparation and plant capability analysis
Security
• Assist with maintenance of Evonik security requirements for sites
• Conduct annual security audit
• Manage audit findings in ESTER
REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors Degree required Chemical or Environmental Engineering preferred
-
Professional certification preferred (CSP, CHMM, CIH, CPEA)
-
3-5 years of experience in EHS, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment
-
ISO 50001 compliance certification experience is desirable
-
Proven ability to influence actions and mindsets in leadership team

Strong knowledge of SAP preferred

PSM experience preferred
