Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) Space Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) has an exciting opportunity for an innovative, highly motivated, people focused, and growth motivated Mid-Level or Senior Equipment and Tool Engineer (Level 3 or 4 ) to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG). at Kennedy Space Center, FL

ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently landed from its seventh and most ambitious flight yet.

A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, and directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering, working as a Tooling Engineer, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conducts the evaluation of project requirements, develops moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.

  • Develop, identify, and implement conceptual designs while supporting the program architecture for build.

  • Develops, participates and presents in design reviews and collects and documents design requirements.

  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines.

  • Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and estimates for equipment and tooling.

  • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.

  • Creates specifications, purchase requests, and usage instructions for equipment and tooling.

  • Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares.

  • Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel.

  • Develops and implements moderately complex work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 3+ years of experience working in an engineering, manufacturing and/or production environment

  • 3+ years of experience with 3D modeling software

 Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with production systems such as Manufacturing Execution System (MESci), Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM), Unigraphics (UG/NX) and Visualization Mockup

  • Ability to successfully work well and communicate with others in a cross functional team

  • Experience as a product review engineer (MRB)

  • Experience with low-rate manufacturing process automation

Mid-Level (Level 3) Summary pay range: $98,600 - $133,400

Senior (Level 4) Summary pay range: $120,700 - $163,300
