The Role

Our Team is actively seeking an Environmental/Wetland Natural Resources Senior Specialist with a minimum of 10 years of experience or more to join our NC team in either our Charlotte, Morrisville or Raleigh Offices.

The right partner will have a passion for and experience in natural resources and/or wetlands investigations and reporting.

What you will do:

  • Participate and lead field efforts including wetland and stream delineations; Field work will often-times be performed under challenging conditions
  • Conduct protected species surveys
  • Complete natural resources assessments, mapping, and inventories
  • Utilize GPS unit to collect data
  • Prepare Section 404/401 permit applications
  • Provide support to NEPA/SEPA documents and planning efforts
  • Create figures and map products incorporating GPS data of wetland boundaries and other natural resources with GIS
  • Utilize GIS to quantify potential impacts to wetlands and natural resources associated with transportation, infrastructure, and development projects
  • Research natural resources topics and prepare technical reports
  • Interact with multidisciplinary team members as well as clients and regulatory personnel in the completion of tasks

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in biology, ecology, environmental sciences or related field and coursework in either plant identification, hydric soils, GIS or hydrologic indicators
  • Prior experience in Section 404/401 permitting in North and South Carolina including preparation of Nationwide Permits, General Permits and Individual Permits
  • Experience performing stream and wetland delineations
  • Proficient in ArcGIS (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Online)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to complete tasks on time
  • Demonstrated excellence and efficiency in writing, communication, data analysis, professional judgment, attention to detail; Note: candidate will be required to provide a writing sample
  • Self-sufficient, self-motivated and ability to work under pressure of deadlines is essential

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PWS or WPIT certification highly desirable
  • Experience in stream and wetland restoration design
  • Experience preparing planting plans
  • Experience using mapping or survey grade GPS/GNSS receivers
  • MicroStation or AutoCAD experience is a plus
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro
  • Wetland plant identification, primarily in the southeast United States

Compensation Range:

$61,760.55 - $82,347.40
