General Summary: As an Origination Analyst on our Environmental Products team, your core focus will be to contribute to our growing portfolio of forestry-based carbon projects. You will enjoy significant responsibility for the management of your own projects within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
Primary Responsibilities and Competencies:
- Prepare written carbon project feasibility analysis documents for landowners
- Perform statistical analyses of forest inventories and other data sets
- Analyze remote sensing databases to produce accurate estimates of carbon sequestration and emissions reductions
- Conduct silvicultural research across project regions
- Manage geospatial data and produce maps using ArcGIS or other geospatial software
- Analyze financial costs and benefits of carbon project development
- Review easements/harvest prohibitions and conduct project eligibility due diligence
- Articulate carbon analysis processes for landowners
- Travel is less than 10%
Required Education, Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry or another applicable discipline
- 1 or more years of professional experience in forestry or forest carbon-related field
- Experience implementing afforestation/reforestation activities
- Experience working with a variety of forms of timber data
- Knowledge of a variety of North American forest types
- Experience in ArcGIS mapping and analysis
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, knowledge of database management a plus
- Experience cleaning and troubleshooting data
- Experience in statistical analysis
- Knowledge of forest carbon policy, carbon protocols (compliance and voluntary), and carbon accounting standards
- Experience and comfort managing client and third-party relationships.
Preferred Education, Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in forestry or another applicable discipline
- 2 or more years of professional experience in forestry or forest carbon-related field
- Knowledge of database management (MS Access preferred)
- Knowledge of R Statistical Software
