About This Role: 

Crusoe Energy is seeking an experienced and proactive Environmental Manager to join our growing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team. This newly created role, reporting directly to the HSE Director and based in our Cherry Creek Office, will be instrumental in providing primary environmental support to our Power Operations and Manufacturing Teams. The Environmental Manager will collaborate closely with internal management to ensure all necessary environmental permits and obligations are identified, obtained, and authorized in full compliance with local, State, and Federal regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical environmental background across various disciplines, with a significant focus on air permitting applications, and will be a detail-oriented, solutions-focused team player capable of effective communication at all organizational levels. This is a full-time position.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Permit and Obligation Assessment: Thoroughly assess projects and ongoing operations to accurately determine all applicable environmental permits, registrations, and compliance obligations.

  • Regulatory Agency Liaison: Work directly and effectively with various local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies to facilitate the environmental permitting process and secure necessary permits or authorizations in a timely manner to support operational timelines.

  • Internal Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure that all key stakeholders are consistently informed of permit status and associated timeframes, thereby ensuring business plans remain on schedule.

  • Environmental Process Development: Develop and implement a range of environmental processes, including checklists, spreadsheets, and/or databases, to effectively track and report on the status of permits and critical compliance obligations such as required testing and reporting.

  • Technical Review and Accuracy: Conduct thorough reviews of all technical permit applications, as well as environmental test data and reports, to guarantee accuracy and completeness.

  • Timely Reporting and Data Submission: Ensure that all required environmental reports and data are submitted to regulatory agencies in a timely and compliant manner.

  • Environmental Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a primary Environmental Subject Matter Expert for all relevant matters within Crusoe's operations, with targeted knowledge in Air (primary focus), Waste, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC), and Water regulations.

  • Incident Investigation and Analysis: Facilitate comprehensive environmental incident investigations and lead root cause analysis efforts following any failures, incidents, accidents, or non-compliance events.

  • Environmental Training: Develop, coordinate, and actively participate in the delivery of environmental training programs for Crusoe personnel.

  • Regulatory Awareness: Maintain a proactive awareness of all new and evolving environmental requirements and regulations.

  • Documentation Management: Ensure that all relevant environmental documentation is meticulously maintained and readily available as required for compliance and operational needs.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Educational Background: A university degree is required, with a preference for a focus in Engineering or Environmental Science.

  • Relevant Industry Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience is required in an environmental management role.

  • Air Permitting Expertise: Must possess direct and significant experience with air permitting processes and compliance obligations. Experience with Title V air permits is highly desired. Preference will be given to candidates with well-rounded experience in other environmental areas, such as Hazardous Waste and SPCC regulations.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive technical knowledge of various environmental rules and regulations at both the Federal and State levels, including but not limited to the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and their associated regulations.

  • Communication Proficiency: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex environmental information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.

  • Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in standard office software and environmental data management systems.

  • Work Authorization: Candidates must be legally authorized to work and reside in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Compensation:

Compensation will be paid in the range of $140,000 - $160,000. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
