JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Squad Engineering Leader at Sportradar, you will be responsible for leading and guiding the most important part of our engineering organisation - our people. Accountable for a team delivery, you will serve as leader to improve productivity and predictability, team technical skills, and nurture our culture of collaboration and communication. In addition, you will be actively participating and be accountable of all the architectural and technical solutions to meet Product needs. 

Prior to taking on technical leadership, you likely were a senior software engineer with a comprehensive understanding of complex systems that you were a vital part of developing & launching over the years.

Your experience has given you the perspective to help other engineers prioritise their tasks, shape their career decisions, and face tricky challenges. We are also expecting you to keep up to date with engineering best practices, making you better equipped when helping your employees decide what competencies they want to develop. 

We need our engineers to be versatile, capable of mentoring and enthusiastic about taking on new challenges as we continue to push technology forward.

We are product-oriented engineers with a growth mindset. 

Our products need to handle data at a vast scale and extend well beyond betting and gaming.


THE CHALLENGE 

Responsible for software delivery for a team. 

  • Working collaboratively with business analyst, other leaders and engineers to create the best product for our customers. 
  • Analyse the scope of Product Team initiatives and coordinate with other squads to estimate, map dependencies, plan sprints, resolve blockers and ensure timely release to market. 
  • Working on the design and architecture of our software and hands-on on critical tasks. 
  • Ensure the team efficiency and high-quality work: enforce tech excellence, tech debt management and regular adjustment of processes and timelines in line with continuous improvement philosophy. 
  • Collaborate in release activities which will include clear and detailed plans or checklists for testing and roll-out. 

Responsible for developing our people 

  • Coach engineers to grow in a professional (improving skills, problem-solving abilities) and personal way (by supporting and giving them frequent feedback). 
  • Think critically about the long-term career development of team members. 
  • Conduct regular check-ins and 1-1 
  • Learning and sharing experiences on new technologies and trends and how you can leverage them in current and future products. 
  • Collaborating and sharing knowledge with others across the group. 
  • Exhibiting passion and advocate to drive change. 
  • Understanding how our business works and how products add value to your customers. Show engineers how their work impacts the product (bigger picture). 


YOUR PROFILE 

  • Strong technical leadership experience; an appreciation for engineering best practices and quality over quantity of work. 
  • Ideally proficiency level in .NET and React
  • Extensive professional experience in software development, working on robust, complex systems that serve a high volume of users. 
  • Hands-on people management experience (incl. on/off-boarding process, performance management, talent development) 
  • A knack for effective and clear communication in all circumstances. 
  • A passion for bringing great products into our world through collaboration and ingenuity
