POSITION SPECIFICS

The unit is looking to fill the position of a Engineering Support Specialist. This position provides engineering level support and will oversee that all bus testing procedures comply with the testing requirements stated in the U.S. DOT, Federal Transit Administration regulations. The position is responsible for performing vehicle emissions and dynamometer testing with faculty and staff and will perform automotive research and testing activities in support of the Bus Testing Center.

The position specifies and purchases equipment required to perform research and testing and ensures that test equipment is operating and calibrated in accordance with ISO-17025 accreditation standards.

Responsibilities include: basic mechanical, electronic and electrical design, and fabrication. Duties include conducting ISO-17025 compliance audits. Responsibilities also include training staff and technical service employees in the performance of test procedures and the operation of test equipment to ensure proper and safe operation. Duties include reviewing, performing, and revising automotive testing procedures, data collection, processing, and reporting activities. This position is responsible for providing all safety training, performing safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with all University safety policies.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Associate Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

 

 

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $65,508.00 - $94,980.00.
