Job Description

LUMENTUM is seeking an experienced Program Manager to join the Access Group of the Cloud and Networking Platform.  The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the successful completion of new product introduction (NPI) activities.  The successful candidate will be self-motivated and exhibit a drive for success. Lumentum values analytical problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to risk management. Lumentum’s Program Managers are accountable for driving optical transceiver programs through to mass production. They lead program teams through phase-gate reviews and milestones, ensuring all deliverables are completed on schedule

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage program scope, product cost, development budget, resource planning, schedule and risk
• Effective planning and coordination of NPI activities to ensure timely production release
• Program Managers work with engineering and supply chain teams to define product cost roadmaps and then lead efforts to achieve those cost targets
• Manage and facilitate a strong cross-functional interaction between product line managers, development teams, and internal and external operations teams
• Clear and frequent communication, providing transparency on program status, risks, and changes to all stakeholders

Required Skills

• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills for interacting with technical teams and executive stakeholders
• Broad technical background
• Experience leading complex engineering programs
• 5+ years of industry experience in project management or product development
• A successful track record of managing teams and coordinating NPI activity while rigorously managing cost, schedule and risk
• Results oriented
• Have a sense of urgency in completing activities.

Any of the following would be considered a strong asset:

• A strong technical background in optical communications or a strong background in optical product development
• Familiarity with formal project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and proficiency in common PM tools
• Master’s degree in engineering, Project Management, or related field
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (or equivalent)
