About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for building and scaling OpenLoop’s telehealth technology platform. The ideal candidate blends deep technical expertise with strong people leadership, thrives in fast-moving environments, and is passionate about improving access to care through innovative technology.
As an Engineering Manager, you will own team performance, guide architectural direction, collaborate cross-functionally, and ensure delivery of reliable, secure, and high-quality software products.
What You'll Do
Team Leadership & People ManagementLead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers (backend, frontend, full-stack, or platform depending on assignment).
Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and professional growth discussions.
Foster a culture of ownership, psychological safety, continuous learning, and inclusive collaboration.
Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, secure telehealth platform features and services.
Guide engineers in technical decision-making, architecture, and best practices.
Ensure on-time delivery of roadmap initiatives by partnering closely with Product, Design, and other stakeholders.
Maintain high code quality standards through thoughtful code review and process improvements.
Work closely with Product Management to shape requirements, prioritize work, and balance long-term scalability with short-term needs.
Partner with Security, Clinical, and Operations teams to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and operational reliability.
Collaborate with other Engineering Managers to align on engineering processes, infrastructure, and staffing needs.
Own team metrics: delivery throughput, quality, system reliability, and engineering productivity.
Improve and evolve engineering processes, development workflows, and technical documentation.
Support incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement of system resilience.
Who You Are
Required5+ years of software engineering experience, including 1–3+ years in an engineering leadership or management role.
Strong technical background in modern web application development (e.g., Node.js, Python, React, AWS, microservices).
Proven success managing and scaling engineering teams in high-growth environments.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives and deliver customer-focused products.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Experience in telehealth, digital health, or other highly regulated domains.
Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR) and HIPAA compliance.
Background working with distributed or hybrid engineering teams.
Hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, or security best practices.
