As an Engineering Manager , you'll play a key role in our innovative team dedicated to creating exceptional experiences for our global customers.
From powering platforms like NBCUniversal’s Peacock in the United States to Sky’s NOW, and SkyShowtime across Europe, and now Showmax in over 40 countries in Africa, one thing’s for certain, your contributions will impact millions of viewers worldwide.
Our streaming video SDK is at the forefront of technology, leveraging modern video codecs, adaptive bitrate streaming, low-latency streaming, and support for live streaming. We ensure seamless playback across various platforms, including web browsers, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and streaming media devices. This compatibility allows us to reach a wide audience and provide exceptional streaming experiences regardless of the device or operating system.
Your primary focus will be building highly functional teams with a great focus on scalable development practices in the JavaScript world. What you’ll do:
Mentor and develop engineers through regular feedback and growth plans.
Lead cross-team collaboration, translating requirements into clear deliverables.
Drive code quality and best practices via reviews, tech talks, and AI tooling.
Deliver robust, scalable solutions aligned with business needs and architecture.
Own team estimation, risk management, and delivery forecasting.
Prioritize and manage the team roadmap, communicating progress and trade-offs.
Champion new tools and processes that improve productivity or quality.
Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture.
What you’ll bring
At least 4 years’ experience leading engineering teams, including hands-on senior-level development in JavaScript/TypeScript, with a proven track record of delivering production-grade software.
A history of effective cross-functional collaboration, with specific examples of working with product, design, or QA to deliver complex features.
Experience managing delivery against deadlines and constraints, including setting stakeholder expectations, proactively identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies.
Demonstrated analytic problem-solving skills, with examples of driving solutions independently and collaboratively within a team.
A track record of fostering an inclusive, high-performing team culture, including mentoring engineers from diverse backgrounds and supporting their professional growth.
What would set you apart
Demonstrable experience integrating with Media Source Extensions (MSE) and Encrypted Media Extensions (EME) in JavaScript-based video players, evidenced by shipped features or products.
Evidence of designing, building, and maintaining JavaScript/TypeScript libraries for video playback, including examples of performance optimization and cross-device compatibility.
