Rhythm is at the forefront of remote monitoring for implanted cardiac devices, managing the care of over 100,000 patients. Our leading patient management platform is designed to enhance patient outcomes and streamline the workflow for healthcare providers. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to guide the strategic development execution of Rhythm Synergy, which leverages technology to streamline care, allowing for timely, accurate, life-saving interventions for our patients.
Why this role
Own delivery speed and reliability for Rhythm Synergy, a HIPAA-regulated platform supporting >100,000 cardiac patients. In the past nine-months we have rebuilt the Rhythm Platform into a market leading platform and are looking to expand our engineering leadership as we look to expand out platform into new modalities. You will lead a six-engineer pod, with room for expansion, and set the engineering bar while shipping multiple times per week.
What you’ll achieve
- 30 days: Work as an IC, shipping a notable feature and completing a production support rotation.
- 90 days: Establish execution cadence. Baseline DORA. Close top 3 reliability gaps. Stand up on-call with runbooks and postmortems.
- 180 days: Improve change lead time by ≥30%. Maintain ≥3 deploys/week. MTTR <45 minutes. Escape defects <0.3%.
- 12 months: Help scale the team with additional hires, including growing or hiring a backend team lead and standing up a second Pod.
Your scope
- Own team charter, delivery plan, and quality bars.
- Partner with Product and Design on scope and sequencing.
- Review PRs across React frontend and Nest.js backend, both written in TypeScript. Write code when it unblocks your team.
- Set backend architecture guardrails, reliability practices, and testing strategy.
- Hire, onboard, coach, and performance manage.
- Introduce AI-assisted development (review copilots, test generation, observability summarization, release risk scoring) and measure uplift.
Our environment
- Frontend: React + Redux + Typescript.
- Backend: Nest.js services, Node, background jobs and Typescript.
- Data: Postgres on AWS RDS.
- Infra: AWS (ECS), IaC (Terraform), GitHub Actions CI/CD.
- Observability: OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch + Datadog, PagerDuty.
- Security: HIPAA, SOC 2, HiTrust.
- Cadence: Multi-deploys/week, trunk-based where practical.
What you bring
- 7–12 years total experience. 1–2 years leading engineers or Staff+ experience owning production systems.
- Strong system-design and architecture skills.
- Proven track record hitting SLOs and improving DORA metrics.
- Deep understanding of Typescript best practices
- Built or integrated AI-assisted dev workflows.
- Clear communication in hybrid, US-India teams.
Ways of working
- Hybrid Hyderabad. In office days are every Tuesday and Wednesday.
- 3–4 hours/day overlap with US. Local decision autonomy when US is offline.
