What We Do

In 2019, we began with the debut of Fuel V1, our first major step toward enhancing Ethereum’s scalability, and since then we've grown to offer a complete Rollup Operating System. We create innovative technologies like the Fuel Virtual Machine, and Sway—a programing language designed specifically for blockchains—that together form a robust environment for developers, with relentless focus on usability. These tools are part of our commitment to optimize and expand Ethereum's potential, for all its users.


Who We Are

The team comprises 75 professionals, including builders formerly from well-known Web3 organizations such as Consensys, Polygon, Polkadot and Ethereum. Our contributors works remotely, hailing from diverse locations globally, and we value curiosity, passion, and accountability in our collaborative efforts.


About This Role


We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to support our CTO in leading the Core teams.

Core currently includes Client, Sway, SDK and Tooling. 


Our ideal candidate is a former developer or EM, with experience in Web3 and blockchains, a passion for people and smooth delivery, and a track record of successfully integrating in the culture, and bringing teams to perform at their best. Our engineering culture is very specific and one of the main drivers of our success. Our new EM will need to vibe with the nuances, while supporting the growth of everyone around them.


Areas of Ownership 


Staffing 

Short Term: Re-shuffling staffing as teams move onto and off of projects

Long Term: Hiring planning and budgeting aligned with product priorities


Feedback, Development and Performance 

Clearly setting expectations for devs at various levels of the organization

Communicating great work and areas of improvement

Aligning performance with:

The needs of the individual dev

The needs of the organization\

Defining and helping team-members to achieve personal development goals

Supporting and following up with team members’ career progression 


Clarifying,Tracking and Communicating Team Plans

Working with leads to turn plans into general dependencies, order of operations, and rough to specific timelines, given the nature of the work

Converting plans into digestible and understandable documents for communication throughout the organization

Tracking progress to plans, escalating issues, and unblocking teams that need help to achieve organizational goals

Communication with the rest of the org

Planning of mini-offsites to work on specific, critical deliverables

Coordination with other leaders across the organization


Requirements

A senior leader with 5-10 years of experience

Experience working successfully on complex infrastructure projects (preferably sensitive distributed systems) 

Experience or strong interest with Rust

Experience in OS projects and community

Experience building high-risk software applications
