Position Summary:
Performs basic and advance structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance. Supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
Preferred QualificationsEssential Functions:
- Basic efforts-analytical assessments of structures
- Generate Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of weldments or components as required
- Generate hand calculations as required.
- Guide the efforts of designers
- Guide stress analysis efforts in the test lab (strain gages)
- Make fitness assessments based on static Design Factor (DF) and of life estimates using British Weld Standard 7600 criteria (latest Euro code 3)
- Assignment of projects can vary; they are usually in conjunction with major projects and include most, if not all, major weldments. Occasionally there are projects related to field failures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
- Supervisory experience in project management and supply budget information.
- Solid understanding of corporate goals/objectives with regards to engineering and product development.
- Proficient in 3-D wire frame, design layouts, assembly drawings and/or component part drawings.
- Knowledge of engineering design standards, manufacturing processes and capabilities, production methods and purchasing functions.
- Knowledge of industrial product(s) and/or Gradall and Vacall
- Knowledge of engineering documentation systems.
- Computer literate. Knowledge of Microsoft office.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to organize and prioritize own work schedule and subordinates schedules.
- Meet deadlines and work under pressure. Work overtime as needed to complete assignments.
- Knowledge of GMS and safety systems to ensure compliance.
Education and Experience:
BSME Degree or equivalent
Ten (10) years of experience working in a heavy equipment industrial manufacturing environment
Three (3) years of stress analysis with string gauge experiences
CAD skills are desirable
Working Conditions:
Frequent sitting for extended periods of time. Working in climate controlled office environment. Occasional walking in manufacturing environment for testing purposes. Occasional travel to provide support to other Alamo Group facilities regarding engineering and/or engineering documentation.
