The Live Data unit is responsible for the development, delivery, and global distribution of real-time sports data across a diverse range of sporting events. Through strong partnerships with rights holders, media organizations, and betting companies worldwide, the unit ensures the seamless provision of accurate, high-quality data across 30+ different sports disciplines, including e-sports.
Within Scout Admin, our team develops and maintains the core administrative platform that powers the management of scouts, events, and data collection workflows. This system plays a critical role in ensuring that scouts worldwide can seamlessly register, prepare, and manage their coverage of live sporting events, directly supporting the quality and reliability of the Live Data ecosystem.

THE CHALLENGE:
As an Engineering Manager in Scout Admin team you will be responsible for leading and guiding the most important part of our engineering organization - our people.
You’ll serve as leader to nurture our culture of collaboration, communication, and coordination between and within teams, leverage your prior experience as an individual contributor and demonstrate comprehensive understanding of complex systems to make technology and product decisions.
We hope that your experience has given you the perspective to help other engineers prioritise their tasks, resolve tricky challenges and shape their career decisions. Your support with implementation of modern product development techniques resulting in clean code, robust architectural choices and quality baked in will be crucial.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You’ll spend time on:

  • Leading a team of talented software engineers with different levels of expertise, but clear focus on on the domain and technology stack, managing other managers.
  • Working collaboratively with product manager, other leaders and engineers to create the best product for your customers within our next application.
  • Walking the talk through dedicating a portion of you time to hands-on design and development
  • Coaching engineers to grow in a professional (improving skills, problem-solving abilities) and personal way (by supporting and giving them frequent feedback).
  • Preparing short-(quarter) and mid-term plans(year) while contributing to strategic goals and vision of the unit
  • Being responsible for the growth and happiness of the team members.
  • Ensuring teams’ efficiency and high-quality outcomes: enforce tech excellence, tech debt management and regular adjustment of processes and practices in line with continuous improvement philosophy;
  • Thinking strategically about the long-term career development of team members.
  • Communicating across cross-functional teams such as Product, Analytics, DevOps, Security and Design.
  • Lead prioritetization efforts and provide mentoring to others.
  • Understanding how our business works and how products add value to your customers.
  • Show engineers how their work impacts the product (the bigger picture).
  • Learning and sharing experiences on new technologies and trends and how you can leverage them in current and future products.
  • Collaborating and sharing knowledge with others across the group.
  • Exhibiting passion and driving change.
  • Gain deep expertise in the workflows and processes that enable real-time sports data collection worldwide.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term system design.
  • Stay hands-on with code while supporting team members in pair programming and knowledge sharing.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A knack for effective and clear communication in all circumstances.

OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS:

  • Initial Screening: A brief conversation with our Talent Acquisition Partner to review your background, experience, and expectations.
  • Technical Task: A take-home coding assignment designed to reflect our daily work, completed at your convenience.
  • Technical Interview (90 minutes): An in-depth discussion on your submitted coding
  • System Design task, including a review of your thought process, livecoding whiteboard exercises, and a system design conceptual discussion.
  • Cultural Fit Interview (45 minutes): A conversation with Senior Management and People Partner to assess your ability to work in a matrix organization and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Leadership capabilities (60 minutes): A conversation about management practices with focus on people, delivery, competence development and problem solving.
