Candidate Description:
WaterFleet is seeking a multi-year seasoned Water/Wastewater Professional Engineer with knowledge and experience in mobile and decentralized water and wastewater. A technical aptitude will be combined with the ability to engage with multiple internal departments, and externally with engineers, regulatory agencies, and business development persons to advance WaterFleet’s capabilities and projects. An understanding of the available technologies in the decentralized arena will be combined with out-of-the-box thinking and WaterFleet’s unique capabilities to create innovative offerings and opportunities for WaterFleet and our clients.
Position Overview:
WaterFleet’s Engineering Manager is responsible for oversight and direct management of all Engineering projects at the company. Projects primarily involve product design development and improvement, documentation, costing, assistance in proposal development, submittal preparation, regulatory engagement, including review and stamp of designs and documentation when needed, and technical support of business development. Areas of engineering primarily include decentralized potable water and domestic wastewater equipment design and services which requires process engineering, electrical, and mechanical aptitude.
This position also includes team management, scheduling work, providing training, and reviewing work. The Engineering Manager must possess an understanding of multi-disciplinary team coordination, compilation of design and construction contract documents, design standards and practices, and the ability to interact with multiple business groups (e.g., internal deployment, service, compliance, and remote command/control teams, as well as external suppliers, consultants, etc.). Additionally, he/she must be able to facilitate and support lunch and learns or group activities, develop technical training programs for internal staff, possess strong writing and oral skills, and have a track record of completing work on time and adhering to budgets.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with operations, compliance, and other departments to determine engineering project needs, then develop and implement solutions to completion. This can require application of multiple engineering disciplines.
- Provide direct or managed project oversight in coordination with WaterFleet operations and installation groups.
- Determine best technology/design upgrades for WaterFleet’s mobile water and wastewater system fleet and services.
- Research and recommend best technologies for long term water/wastewater projects based on location, required standards, and supplier qualifications.
- Review and respond to drawings, submittals, requests for clarification, and other related correspondence.
- Determine sizing, flow process, and auxiliary equipment needs for new system designs.
- Provide PE stamp to designs and drawings as needed.
- Develop project technical budget and final proposals in coordination with business development directors for each segment of business.
- Assist in regulatory engagement as necessary for permit applications and approvals.
- Coordination of startup, commissioning, and acceptance activities.
- Engage with the WaterFleet business intelligence group in design and implementation of remote monitoring, data acquisition, and control functionality of all decentralized system designs.
- Build and manage the required technical support team to accomplish all responsibilities of the department as the company grows.
Requirements:
- BS in an engineering discipline required.
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience and strong technical background in designing and implementing water/wastewater treatment systems.
- Current Professional Engineer Registration in the state of Texas.
- Valid driver’s license and strong driving safety record (no more than 2 moving violations in previous 3 years).
- Acceptable background check, clear of DWI convictions, for the last 5 years.
- Experience developing technical proposals for water and wastewater projects, with emphasis on decentralized and reuse type projects preferred.
- CAD, hydraulic or process modeling software experience required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task.
- Excellent team player with ability to function effectively in a variety of roles on integrated project teams.

Qualifications:
- Preference given to ability to reside in San Antonio.
- Advanced degrees or equivalent experience in engineering disciplines.
- Proven project leadership, project management (staffing, schedule, and budget) and mentoring skills.
- Demonstrated experience in evaluating and applying advanced water/wastewater technologies.
- Demonstrated business development support experience.
- Experience pursuing and managing projects with the State Regulatory Agencies and other similar Federal Agencies.
- Experience participating and presenting in business development, regulatory, and board level meetings.
