The Opportunity
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Monetization team, driving scalable, data-driven experiences that help users discover, purchase, and engage with Veo’s products. You’ll work across backend and frontend systems to optimize the full user journey, from onboarding to renewal, bringing our mission of accessible sports tech to life.
This is a full-stack role grounded in experimentation, product intuition, and solid technical fundamentals, using a modern stack: Python, TypeScript, and Rust on the backend, TypeScript with React on the frontend. We're looking for a "player-coach" with proven engineering leadership, curiosity, and a growth mindset to enhance the user journey from onboarding to purchase.
What You Will Do
- Hire, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering team, creating an environment where people can do the best work of their lives.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers.
- Lead your team through the full product lifecycle while leveraging customer feedback to iterate and improve.
- Optimize Veo’s development practices for stability, scalability, performance, and rapid delivery.
- Ensure high performance, security, and scalability in software development.
- Shape Veo’s architecture and technical landscape, contributing to a maintainable and scalable platform.
- Participate actively with other engineering leaders to define and propagate best engineering practices across the organization.
- Champion sustainable engineering practices, including clean code, testing strategies, and automation.
What You Could Bring
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering and 2+ years of experience leading and growing engineering teams.
- Fullstack experience across modern web and backend development, including React, TypeScript, e-commerce architecture, and scalable, secure systems.
- Solid understanding of e-commerce architecture, checkout flows, authentication, real-time data pipelines, and application security.
- Hands-on engineering background with a deep appreciation for clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
- An eye for system design and architecture, with the ability to weigh trade-offs and make pragmatic decisions.
- A collaborative mindset, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver the best outcomes.
- A growth mindset and a passion for coaching and supporting engineers’ career development.
- Obsession with creating outstanding customer experiences through technical excellence.
- Experience with automated testing practices, CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring performance at scale.
- Comprehensive verbal and written English communication skills.
