SeatGeek believes live events are powerful experiences that unite humans. With our technological savvy and fan-first attitude we’re simplifying and modernizing the ticketing industry.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who can help us scale up our development operation and empower our engineering teams. As we grow, the scale of our technical challenges - and their effect on our customers - continue to increase. We want to continue to build the best product and team we can.

As an Engineering Manager for the Marketplace Discovery team, you will lead a team of skilled engineers responsible for the initial stages of our customer's journey, from product discovery to consideration. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement features that enhance the user experience and drive customer acquisition and engagement.

What you'll do

  • Manage a team of cross functional engineers (backend & frontend, multiple platforms) to develop and maintain features for the top of the funnel, including product search, recommendations, and personalized content
  • Work closely with Product to design and develop product enhancements and value for both fans and enterprise customers - including prioritization and planning cycles
  • Guide the team to improve operational and engineering best practices to keep our development machine humming
  • Provide regular job performance feedback, hold one-on-ones, and provide career development support to your direct reports
  • Play an active role in our recruiting process, helping us to grow our engineering team in any way you can
  • Perform code reviews and provide technical and design feedback to the team
  • Communicate technical and product decisions to the right people, resolve blocking issues, and collaborate with other leaders across the organization

What you have

  • 5+ years as an engineer in a role that was mostly about writing code
  • 2+ years of experience as an engineering manager of productive, motivated teams
  • A foundation of technical excellence that your team can look up to
  • Knowledge of the technology industry to help your team make good tooling and framework decisions setting them up for success
  • An understanding of how to lead by setting context and facilitating collaboration between cross functional partners in  product, design, engineering and leadership
  • Experience using data to identify opportunities, set priorities and make decisions
  • Experience with SEO and knowledge of common SEO factors and strategies that drive organic traffic to a website
  • Experience in digital marketing areas such as: email, search engine (SEM), social media, brand
  • Experience with various web analytics measurement methodologies and measurement platforms (Google Analytics, Search Console, SEO tools)

Our stack

You absolutely do not need experience with all of these, but we thought you might be curious. Tools can be learned, so we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language.

  • Languages: Python, Go, C#+.NET Core, Swift, Java\Kotlin, Javascript
  • Client Platforms: iOS, Android, Web (Desktop\Mobile)
  • Technologies: Contentful, Google Tag Manager
  • Datastores: Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch
  • Cloud: AWS
  • Version control: Git (Gitlab)

Perks:

  • Equity stake
  • Flexible work environment, allowing you to work as many days a week in the office as you’d like or 100% remotely
  • A WFH stipend to support your home office setup
  • Flexible PTO
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid family leave
  • 401(k) matching program
  • Health, vision, dental, and life insurance
  • Annual subscriptions to Headspace, Ginger.io, and One Medical
  • $120 a month to spend on tickets to live events
  • Annual subscription to Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon music

The salary range for this role is $160,000-$250,000. Actual compensation packages within that range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.

An Insider's view of SeatGeek

What are some social events your company does?

The importance of gathering is baked into our DNA at SeatGeek! We always take time to celebrate milestones together, whether in person or virtually, and, while we throw an amazing End of Year party, my favorite events are a little more personal! We empower employees to create their own social events from fitness classes to crafting or or tv nights!

Erin

Workplace & People Programs Manager

What projects are you most excited about?

An ongoing project I am excited about is the redesign of one of the core flows in our app. It is a high impact, cross functional initiative and I love how we’ve been able to implement a new technical foundation, introduce new features, and improve the user experience. I’m looking forward to the initial release and gathering insights from consumers!

Jenny

Software Engineer II

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

We encourage teams to solve problems and create delightful customer experiences, not implement pre-defined solutions. Our teams leverage research/data to understand our customers needs and behaviors, but we also believe that giving teams the space to be creative during a discovery phase opens the possibilities of what they can come up with.
