Engineering Manager - AI Platform (m/f/d)

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team building the core infrastructure behind our AI-driven platform — the foundation that enables scalable, mission-critical solutions across industries.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for team execution, code quality, and engineering best practices. You’ll partner closely with the Product Manager, Forward Deployed Engineers, and platform team to ensure the platform is not only powerful and flexible, but also reliable, maintainable, and secure.

What You’ll Do

Lead and Grow the Team

• Manage and mentor a team of software engineers focused on our AI platform, services, and tools.
• Support career growth through coaching, feedback, and regular 1:1s.
• Champion a collaborative, inclusive, and high-ownership engineering culture.

Own Engineering Excellence

• Drive engineering quality through code reviews, design reviews, testing practices, and documentation standards.
• Ensure systems are built for scalability, observability, and maintainability.
• Implement and refine processes for development, CI/CD, incident response, and technical debt management.

Partner for Product Success

• Collaborate with Product Managers to define and scope initiatives — balancing speed, stability, and technical investment.
• Translate high-level goals into concrete engineering plans and team priorities.
• Align with Solution Architects and support teams to anticipate future platform needs.

Technical Leadership

• Guide architectural decisions for the platform — ensuring modularity, extensibility, and performance.
• Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement across the stack.
• Stay current on industry trends in AI infrastructure, MLOps, data platforms, and developer tooling.

A Typical Day Might Include

• Reviewing system designs for a new AI orchestration layer or access control model.
• Coaching an engineer through a challenging refactor or performance fix.
• Working with the Product Manager to triage incoming requests from the Embedded teams.
• Planning engineering capacity for the next sprint or quarter.

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of experience managing software engineers; 5+ years as a hands-on engineer.
• Strong technical foundation in backend systems, distributed architecture, or platform engineering.
• Proven ability to scale teams, systems, and engineering processes.
• Excellent communication and decision-making under uncertainty.
• Bonus: Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, data platforms, or enterprise software.
