About Skyscanner

Everyone loves travelling, but planning is not without its challenges ✈️ That's why we've spent 20 years building tools that turn travel-planning chaos into a breeze. Today, around 100 million travellers count on us every month to skip the whole “47 browser tabs open” phase and find flights, cars, and hotels quickly and easily 💻

Joining Skyscanner means becoming part of a global brand that's striving to become the planet's go-to travel hack accessible for all 🌍

Our vision? To be the world's number one travel ally. (Ambitious? 💪 Yes, but, hey, that's what got us here)

About the role
(Hybrid)

As Engineering Manager for Stargate, you’ll lead a front-end–focused, full-stack squad within our Audience Experience group — a team building some of the most visible and frequently used experiences on Skyscanner.

Stargate owns the web login and authentication journey, along with a set of post-login experiences that help travellers get more value once they’re signed in. It’s a product-facing space where small changes can make a big difference, and where engineering, design and experimentation come together daily.

This role is about setting direction, supporting people, and keeping the team moving smoothly — creating an environment where great engineers can do their best work, together.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading a product-facing squad: You’ll manage a team of front-end-heavy, full-stack engineers building user experiences millions of travellers interact with every day.
  • Creating clarity and momentum: You’ll help the team prioritise well, navigate trade-offs, and deliver iteratively without losing sight of quality.
  • Partnering closely with Product and Design: You’ll work hand-in-hand with your product manager and designers to shape ideas into thoughtful, usable experiences.
  • Supporting experimentation: You’ll help the team run and learn from experiments that improve how travellers log in, stay engaged, and move through our platform.
  • Fostering a healthy team culture: You’ll build trust, psychological safety and clear ownership — so people feel confident taking initiative and responsibility.
  • Developing engineers: You’ll coach and support engineers through feedback, career conversations and growth moments, big and small.
  • Keeping close to the work: You’ll stay connected to what the team is building, how it’s built, and where they might need support or course correction.

About you

  • Engineering background: You bring a strong front-end engineering history, with experience in React, TypeScript and JavaScript, and the confidence that comes from having built and shipped real products.
  • Comfortable leading engineers: You’ve moved into engineering management and enjoy supporting others to do great work — through coaching, context-setting and clear communication.
  • Product-aware: You care about user experience and understand how engineering choices shape what travellers see, feel and trust.
  • Thoughtful and pragmatic: You balance empathy with expectations, and you know when to listen, when to guide, and when to step in.
  • Collaborative by nature: You work well across disciplines and enjoy partnering with product, design and platform teams.
  • Curious and reflective: You like learning — from your team, from outcomes, and from things that don’t quite land first time.
  • Grounded: You bring calm, clarity and a sense of perspective, even when things get busy.
