About the Role

As an Engineering Manager within our Technology Team, you will lead the development, support, and maintenance of critical software applications in the Customer Operations problem space. Leading a team of 2-4 engineers, you will own technical direction and execution, driving technical excellence and product innovation across services such as the Claims Portal, customer chatbot, and claims bot. You'll raise engineering standards, build scalable services and integrations, and develop a high-performing team that consistently delivers customer outcomes.

To drive success in this role, you will have strong hands-on technical excellence, experience designing and operating production systems and a track record of mentoring engineers and building high-performing engineering teams. As the  Engineering Manager you will drive product delivery and cultivate a high-ownership team culture, while actively contributing code to our applications and services across our TypeScript/NestJS and Python/Django stack. Regular collaboration with Product, Engineering stakeholders and Operational partners will be key in ensuring roadmap outcomes and measurable improvements in insurance operational performance are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and technical execution for all applications within the Customer Operations domain.

  • Own the delivery of critical applications on Customer Operations, ensuring they meet business requirements, performance standards and security compliance.

  • Drive technical excellence by establishing and maintaining engineering best practices, quality standards and architectural principles.

  • Contribute into the engineering culture of innovation, continuous learning and collaborative problem solving.

  • Collaborate strategically with Product, Infrastructure, Data & AI teams across different timezones to create and execute a vision of building the World’s best technology & Insights  platform for embedded insurance.

  • Support and empower the Customer Operations teams by providing technical guidance, removing blockers, and ensuring they have the tools and systems they need to deliver excellent customer outcomes.

  • Champion innovation by identifying emerging technologies and opportunities that can enhance the business  capabilities and create competitive advantages for the business.

  • Establish metrics and processes that improve engineering efficiency, code quality and system reliability.

  • Lead and guide the team to evaluate and integrate AI tools to improve the team metrics such as productivity, quality and velocity.

Skills & Experience

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor/Masters degree in Computer Science or Engineering with at least 7 years of software engineering experience and at least 3 years in engineering leadership roles.

  • Strong frontend and backend expertise ideally in React, TypeScript (NestJS) and Python/PHP, building and operating APIs and services with high quality bars (testing, CI/CD, security, performance).

  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software architecture design, API development and implementing monitoring and observability solutions for complex distributed systems.

  • Fluent with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini, or similar)—you've integrated them into real workflows, not just experimented.

  • Working understanding of LLMs beyond code generation: prompt engineering, context management, and knowing when AI adds value vs. traditional code.

  • Experience with modern software development practices including AI tooling, CI/CD pipelines, test automation, code quality tools. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), managing workloads in Kubernetes is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of developing and scaling customer-facing web applications is highly valuable, particularly within the fast-paced insurance technology or fintech domains.

What you will have:

  • Ownership Mindset that fosters accountability throughout the organization and encourages proactive problem-solving, learning from failures while celebrating successes as collective achievements.

  • Strategic Leadership with the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical vision.

  • Exceptional Communication Skills demonstrated through the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences and facilitate productive cross-functional collaboration.

  • People Development expertise that enables building high-performing teams through conscious leadership, creating psychological safety, recognizing individual strengths and providing growth opportunities.

  • AI-First Mindset that embraces AI tools as essential infrastructure rather than optional enhancements, continuously experimenting with emerging capabilities to drive innovation. We use advanced prompt engineering to break down ambiguous problems and generate comprehensive technical plans that accelerate decision-making. We actively identify opportunities to improve team workflows by integrating AI-assisted development practices, and we help colleagues adopt these approaches by sharing what works and raising the bar for the entire team.
