We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager, ASIC to lead the development and delivery of the custom silicon technologies that power our hearing solutions. This is a unique opportunity to combine people leadership, technical influence, and strategic decision-making while working with talented teams and partners across the globe.

The Opportunity

As Engineering Manager, ASIC, you will lead a team responsible for delivering ASIC technologies that sit at the heart of Cochlear's future products. You will build team capability, guide technology direction, develop strategic partnerships, and ensure ASIC solutions are delivered to the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

Working closely with Architecture, Hardware, Firmware, Software, Quality, and external development partners, you will play an important role in bringing innovative technologies from concept into real-world products that improve hearing outcomes for people around the world.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing ASIC engineering team.

  • Shape and execute the ASIC technology roadmap aligned with Cochlear's platform strategy.

  • Lead the successful delivery of ASIC solutions from concept through release and lifecycle support.

  • Manage strategic ASIC design, verification, manufacturing, and technology partners.

  • Drive technical decision-making and engineering excellence across ASIC development activities.

  • Lead resource planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.

  • Champion quality, risk management, continuous improvement, and best engineering practices.

  • Collaborate with global R&D teams to ensure successful platform delivery.

  • Join our Cochlear Technology Centre in Belgium and work closely with colleagues and partners across the world.

About You

You are an experienced engineering leader who combines strong technical credibility with a passion for developing people and building high-performing teams.

You will bring:

  • 10+ years of experience leading ASIC, semiconductor, or related engineering teams.

  • Experience working with and managing external ASIC development partners and suppliers.

  • Strong understanding of ASIC development, verification, manufacturing, and delivery processes.

  • A proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects on time, within budget, and to quality expectations.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.

  • A passion for coaching, developing talent, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.

For candidates with degrees obtained outside Belgium, a formal recognition process may be required as part of the hiring journey. Support will be provided.

Preferred Experience

  • Medical device or other regulated industries.

  • Digital, analogue, mixed-signal, or RF ASIC development.

  • Wireless technologies and embedded hardware platforms.

  • Cross-functional R&D environments involving hardware, firmware, software, and systems engineering.
