Job Summary - As an Engineering Manager in the AdTech team, you will lead a team of strong engineers to build scalable, high-performance systems that power JioStar’s advertising capabilities - from ad delivery and targeting to measurement and optimization. You’ll be responsible for setting technical direction, driving architectural decisions, and ensuring engineering excellence while closely collaborating with Product, Data, and Business teams. Your role will require balancing long-term vision with hands-on execution while fostering a high-performing and collaborative engineering culture. About the Team: JioStar’s Ad Platform is among the top video advertising platforms in India - and we’re aiming higher. With deep expertise across Video-On-Demand, Live Sports, and Ad Monetization, our vision is to build the most effective and scalable adtech ecosystem in the world. Our engineering team builds across the full adtech stack - from high-throughput backend services to deeply integrated, high-impact ad experiences on client platforms. Key responsibilities:
- Own the delivery, quality, and evolution of critical services that serve billions of ad impressions across VOD and Live Sports content
- Collaborate with Product and Data teams to define technical strategy and drive measurable business outcomes
- Guide technical architecture discussions, help unblock complex problems, and ensure system scalability, resilience, and cost-efficiency
- Build and nurture a high-performing team through mentorship, hiring, feedback, and career development
- Establish and manage team processes for planning, execution, and continuous improvement
- Represent the team in leadership forums, contributing to broader organizational direction and tech strategy
- Lead by example through code/design reviews and technical guidance when required
Skills & Attributes for success:
- Hands-on experience with backend systems using Java, Golang, or Python
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture
- Familiarity with high-scale databases (MySQL, Redis, Cassandra, DynamoDB) and streaming/message queues (Kafka)
- Production experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS)Track record of delivering cross-functional projects and growing engineering talent
Preferred education & qualification:
- Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in software development, with 3+ years in people management
- You have a strong product mindset and understand how engineering drives user and revenue impact
- Worked in high-scale environments and understand the nuances of latency, cost, and reliability in real-time systems
