As Rome2Rio continues to grow and expand the partnership with Omio, we're building a new Europe-based Ads Product team to develop innovative advertising solutions that enhance our platform while providing value to both users and partners. This team will collaborate closely with both our Melbourne headquarters and Omio's Berlin teams.
Job DescriptionWe're seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our new Europe-based Ads Product team. You'll work directly with the Head of Ads Product to build and manage a team of 5 engineers focused on delivering new advertising product opportunities. This is a unique chance to shape the direction of our advertising technology while collaborating across Rome2Rio and Omio teams.
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a team of 5 engineers with a mix of senior and mid-level experience
- Take ownership of delivery and technical management, particularly for third-party ads platform integrations
- Drive engineering processes from planning to delivery while maintaining high-quality standards
- Collaborate with product, design, data, and other engineering teams across Rome2Rio (Melbourne) and Omio (Berlin)
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth
- Balance backend and frontend development needs, with a focus on robust API integrations
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in engineering management
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing distributed/remote engineering teams
- Technical expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g., C#, Python, JavaScript, C++)
- Experience with advertising technology, adtech APIs, or platform integrations is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams
- A data-driven approach to decision making and problem solving
- Comfort working in a remote environment while building strong team culture
