Private markets are the new public markets. The most important companies of this era are private, and almost no one can own them. What's missing is the financial system public markets spent a century building: exchanges, custodians, brokers, and ways for ordinary people to buy in. Private markets, now $28T, never had the equivalent. AngelList is building it.
The last decade of structural innovation in venture happened here: syndicates, SPVs at scale, Rolling Funds, scout programs. Today we have $200B+ in assets and 30,000+ startups funded on our platform. The rest of private markets is next. Funds is the software and services behind private funds, Nova is the banking network, Meridian is the wealth platform for accredited investors, and USVC is the brand behind a registered fund that lets anyone invest in venture.
Working here means an unusual amount of agency on a problem that matters. Titles are closer to suggestions, and there are about 200 of us building what private markets never had. Come build it with us.
The Funds team is the layer between AngelList's back office and the General Partners who run their funds through us: their dashboard, our support automations, and an emerging AI/MCP layer that lets GPs have total autonomy over their funds. From there, our goal is to support $1T in private assets, enabling automation so VCs can focus on investing in the next generation of startups.
We serve GPs across 20,000+ active vehicles. Full Service is our flagship — wide, deep, mature. Institutional is a brand new and infinitely customizable offering, with a lot of work ahead in layering in automation. We took it from zero to one this year and we’re already showing strong growth ($2B+ in signed investment capital volume in 6 months). The two are run as separate teams today, deliberately, because they're at very different stages. You'll manage both teams, shape their growth, and determine the opportunities to consolidate their product surfaces.
What you'll do
- Own outcomes for both Full Service and Institutional teams
- Manage a team of 7+ engineers across both segments, adapting your approach to each team's stage
- Build toward one unified Funds experience over time, even while the teams stay structurally distinct, and lead the combined product
- Partner closely with the accounting, tax, and customer relations teams that sit behind us to keep the whole platform coherent; along with Product + Design to build delightful user experiences
You Have
- Startup experience — you're comfortable with ambiguity, and know how to build process without over-building it
- 2+ years of experience in engineering management, hiring and growing senior engineering talent. Bonus points for experience managing multiple teams at different stages of maturity
- A track record of shipping customer-facing product
- Experience building in a high compliance, high stakes environment, where every penny counts
How Success Will Be Measured
- Invested capital grows from $22B to $100B within the next three years.
- GPs experience Funds as one coherent product, not two, even while the underlying teams stay separate. Our PSAT climbs from 4.1 to 5.0, and customer inquiries decrease 80% due to self-service
- Both teams are healthy, growing, and clear on their roadmaps — not just correctly drawn on an org chart

AngelList has offices in a few cities, with our engineering hub in San Francisco. We’re building our engineering and product teams around this hub to make the most of in-person collaboration. We have a hybrid in-office model: teammates come in at least 2 days per week (Tuesdays and either Wednesday or Thursday).
Compensation:
The compensation for this role consists of a competitive base salary, benefits, and equity package. The base salary for this role is $240,000+ annually but actual will vary based on a number of factors including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Additional details about our Total Rewards package will be provided during the recruitment process.
