Engineering Drafter
About HMT
HMT was founded in 1978 with the objective of providing better technology to the aboveground storage tank market. HMT’s founders created products which not only solved the emissions problems of the day but also eliminated the operational issues created by the existing floating roof and seal technologies.
Overview
As an engineering drafter, you will work closely with project engineers and designers to transform concepts, sketches, and specifications into detailed technical drawings and plans. Your role is instrumental in ensuring on-time delivery with designs that are accurately represented and can be effectively communicated to our manufacturing and operations teams, construction crews, and other external stakeholders.
You will be responsible for detailing various mechanical components and assemblies for above-ground storage tanks in the oil, gas, and chemical industries.
The Job
Drafting Technical Drawings: Create detailed drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software based on project specifications and calculations provided by the project engineering team.
Design Support: Assist engineers and designers in developing and refining design concepts by providing input on feasibility, manufacturability, and compliance with regulations and standards.
Revision and Modification: Review and revise drawings based on feedback from engineers or clients to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements. Prepare, create and maintain part numbers, descriptions and parts lists for standard components.
Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough checks of drawings to identify errors, inconsistencies, or discrepancies and make necessary corrections to maintain quality standards.
Documentation and Record-Keeping: Manage, maintain, and archive engineering drawings and documents through our “check, approval and release” cycle to facilitate project management organization and ease for future reference.
Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers, and manufacturing personnel to coordinate design activities and ensure project deadlines are met.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on advancements in CAD software, drafting techniques, and industry best practices to enhance skills and efficiency. Training opportunities will be made available.
