Job Summary

TYLin is seeking a Water Engineering Designer to join our TYLin Water Team. The Water Engineering Designer will support project teams and the firm’s key regional clients in the design and planning of complex and innovative wastewater treatment and conveyance projects, and water treatment and distribution projects in the greater Washington, DC metro area. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the PMs or Client Managers to support various water and wastewater engineering projects and will also provide field investigation and condition assessment support of existing infrastructure.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Engineering design and consulting for complex assignments, including hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, utility plans, technical specifications, and cost estimating.
• The successful candidate will be tasked with preparation of design and construction documents for wastewater and water treatment facilities, and conveyance and distribution projects.
• Participate in assignments as a member of a team, sometimes in a lead role in particular areas of expertise, including peer mentorship of design and consulting staff.
• Regular meeting and presentation of project deliverables to clients.
• Leading projects and involvement in client management and proposal development.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

• Education: B.S. degree in Civil Engineering is required. MS. degree preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in water and wastewater engineering consulting performing studies, design, and construction services for municipal clients. Demonstrated experience developing designs and construction contract documents for complex infrastructure projects preferred but not required.
• Certifications, Licenses:  EIT licensure. 

Skills/Competencies

• Strong communication and technical writing skills   
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including using excel spreadsheets. Preferred but not required:
• Experience in the preparation of contract documents, including drawings and specifications, for complex water and sewer projects.
• Experience in the study and design of water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, water distribution and sewer collection linear assets.
• Preparation of hydraulic design calculations and coordination of hydraulic modeling.
• Experience in site design associated with urban infrastructure projects.
• Experience working on and coordinating with an interdisciplinary team with other engineers, including structural, geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, architecture, etc.
