Job Description Summary
Technical Leader for GT Risk & Reliability will lead the delivery of technical risk modeling for fielded gas turbine products and new unit and uprate NPI GT programs to internal customers. This position will work with various stakeholders across the Gas Power business including Systems Engineering, Customer Service, Design CoE, Power Services, and Product Line Management. Technical Leader for GT Risk & Reliability will perform analyses to support Services and New Product initiatives related to Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (planned and unplanned maintenance) for Gas Turbine programs.

Job Description

Essential Functions: (4000 Characters)

  • Own advancement of component reliability modeling methods including gas capital and non-gas capital hardware.
  • Become a recognized expert in Reliability domain with the ability to connect Engineering, Product Line, Services, and end customer needs.
  • Define data needs to improve accuracy of current deliverables and to create new capabilities including leading indicator detection.
  • Work closely with Systems Engineering, Product Service, and Product Line to identify & manage GT fleet issues
  • Lead execution of Design For Reliability efforts on new unit, uprate NPI programs, and oOEM programs ensuring product RAM requirements are met, and deliver RAMDeck/MINI models to the business to support new unit and MYA sales.
  • Drive Life Cycle Reliability (including Design For Reliability) as a standard operating procedure into the COEs.
  • Support PS ITO/OTR with technical risk input for contractual RAM guarantees and equipment coverage.
  • Lead probabilistic analysis efforts in support of PS and NPI Initiatives.
  • Support ITO sales and applications with product risk quantification on a programmatic ad-hoc basis.
  • Provide domain expertise to support customer meetings and/or collaborative efforts
  • Lead the support of MYA Engineering team with unplanned outage risk, fallout, and damage accumulation models. Research field events and build predictive models using Weibull methods and other statistical tools
  • Support RAM Deck development as needed
  • Mentor and support Life Cycle RAM leaders
  • Lead the delivery of component-level (i.e. Weibull or GLL) lifing models using a range of simulation methods to create system and fleet level predictions of risk for a variety of scenarios
  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Technical Information Letter (TIL) creation, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) projects, and GE Digital initiatives
  • Execute work in accordance with the GE Gas Power Engineering design practices and quality procedures
  • Coach and Mentor other engineers in industry/product knowledge and the reliability discipline
  • Work closely with the global reliability team to grow organizational expertise/depth and deliver on commitments



Basic Qualifications (4000 Characters)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 8 years engineering experience in turbomachinery, design, analytics, or power plant domain.



Desired Characteristics (2000 Characters)

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Self-starter able to develop, document, and execute assignments with limited supervision
  • Engineering design experience in gas turbine flange-to-flange equipment including turbine, combustion, compressor, or rotor
  • Engineering design and validation experience in thermal power plant equipment, such as steam turbines, gas turbine, controls, or accessories
  • Experience working in a Power Plant operations and maintenance role with strong working knowledge of Balance Of Plant equipment
  • Experience executing or facilitating FMEAs
  • Experience working with a globally based engineering team
  • Experience working in a cross functional organization, i.e. - systems, controls, performance
  • Ability to mentor less experienced engineers both locally and across a global team environment
  • Ability to rapidly change directions on multiple concurrent projects based on emergent business priorities
  • Effective interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Effective communication skills, oral and written
  • Demonstrated technical skills
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills
