Job Description

As the Senior Architect for the Electro Optic Infrared (EOIR) Automated Test Equipment (ATE) group, the selected candidate will be responsible for engineering design activities associated with the development and maturation of EOIR ATE solutions for the Lockheed Martin (LM) Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS).

Responsibilities include: • Responsible for designing, modeling, analyzing, and testing electro-optical systems and components, including sensors, lasers, and fiber-optic hardware.• Conducts research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, Laser characteristics, Laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources.• Applies research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical manipulations.• Develops component specifications, tolerances, simulations and tests procedures for electro-optical systems and components.• Responsible for optical system design, assembly, integration and test of electrical/fiber optic (F/O) systems & sensors and shall be experienced in all phases of optical system development from conceptualizing solutions through the design, assembly and testing phases.• Managing suppliers, review and analysis of supplier design data, definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, system integration, and support test execution• Responsibilities will also include use of F/O test sets to enable test and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems. Will be expected to assist teams through the analysis and troubleshooting of test results as required to evaluate and improve design as well as development of component specifications, tolerances and tests procedures.• Coordinating with the Principal Engineers and other key stakeholders, and interfacing/coordinating with various internal-to-LM and external-to-LM customers.
Key areas of focus are knowledge of US defense contract lifecycles, subcontract management, design, development, integration, test, verification and validation of military Electro Optic, Infrared and Laser systems. The selected candidate will be required to prepare and give briefings as required to customers, technical leads and/or Lockheed Martin management. Minimal travel may be required to Customer facilities and Lockheed Martin sites.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 14 years system engineering life cycle experience.
- Domain knowledge of Mil-STDs and NIST
guidelines.
- Experience with DOORS for requirements management.
Must be able travel ~ 10% as needed.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Desired skills

- Test Program Set (TPS) experience.
- Model Based Engineering (MBE) experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work across the organizational domain: Hardware, Software, Program Management and Business Development.
- Strong Presentation Skills.
- Exceptional people skills and oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate:
In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $117,000 - $195,000 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.
