What you'll do...
This is a critical technical leadership role that brings together your past engineering design experiences, thought leadership and your abilities to build bonds with developers, data scientists, product managers and other engineering leaders to develop platforms and product that operate at Walmart-scale. You will architect, design, develop and lead by influence a world class group of engineers across the geographies that are bound by a common Walmart-wide theme of creating elegant solutions for complex problems and enable customers to save more and live better - every single day.

You'll sweep us off our feet if...

• 10+ years of experience in big data systems and frameworks like Spark, Hadoop, Hive, NoSQL, Kafka, distributed job scheduling
• Advanced knowledge of at least one programming language - Java and/or Python
• Experience and a general understanding of popular industry frameworks for high performance, scalable machine learning tasks like Tensorflow (serving), Pytorch, SparkML and similar
• Sufficient knowledge of the Hypothesis formulation->EDA->feature extraction->training->cross-validation->tuning->bucket test cycle A/B testing and first hand experience working on/enabling these ML stages with Data scientists for ML/DL models
• Desirable: Understanding of data/app parallel distributed model training and scaling on GPUs/Cloud
• Desirable: Model and feature extraction pipeline portability between runtimes - python, Java
• Desirable: Have explored - TFX, MLFLow, Rapids, Horovod, Tensorboard, Juypter Hub

You'll make an impact by..

• Designing machine learning systems and overseeing the platform on which the solutions would be deployed
• Scaling existing machine learning methods on distributed/parallel environments including GPUs
• Enabling Data Science teams with processes - attestation & labeling workflows, tools, data connectors, model debugging/tuning infrastructure, model serving at scale, managing/operationalizing model hosting, versioning, hot/prod deployments
• Enabling data for statistical analysis - good understanding of ML Cloud offerings & stack
• Designing and developing large-scale distributed systems that process large volume of data; focusing on scalability and resilience in every system that you build
• Demonstrating technical skills to go very deep in solving classes of problems or creating broadly leverageable systems
• Owning multiple systems across big data platforms, and work with engineers, data scientist, product managers and engineering leaders to identify opportunities for business impact
