About the Role: The Staff Security Engineer will support our Engineering team to lead, guide and act on securing our digital solutions platform for our mission critical infrastructure and applications. This individual will ensure best-in-class security practices and solutions are rolled out and implemented rapidly and effectively, while assisting in various areas of product related system improvements. You will have the opportunity to work with team members to push our strategy forward. You will apply your technical skills and creativity in support of our scientific research and development of the Genapsys Next Gen Sequencing (NGS) platform. Your problem solving capabilities and innovation will transform and drive our security and privacy strategy forward in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Spearhead and manage in self-motivated mode; analysis, review and best practice improvements of existing systems and software applications inside of cloud platforms (GCP, AWS)
  • Develop & Implement security measures in web applications inclusive of API’s, databases, code base and related artifacts
  • Perform vulnerability and system audit functions inside of Devops/Cloud Engineering teams with a focus on system integrity analysis, log review, and related breach prevention adaptation protocols
  • Establishes security privacy by design, while influencing related teams to solve security challenges at scale while balancing usability, stability, and performance
  • Serves as the team’s principal security applicator to core architecture while serving as a stakeholder in related projects
  • Design processes to identify, resolve, mitigate security vulnerabilities and risks at scale
  • Research threats and attack vectors that impact the company’s development of applications and product related cloud infrastructure
  • Expand detection and response to security events from a system consumption perspective while maturing and challenging existing setup and platforms
  • Acts within offensive and defensive security mindset and adapts security culture to existing product development pipelines
  • Analyzes and identifies gaps, risks and issues within the CI/CD pipeline

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
  • 5+ Years of experience in security engineering or related field
  • Certifications preferable inclusive of CCSP, Cloud+, CEH, Pentest+, GSEC, MCSE, GPEN or OSCP, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, AZ-500
  • 5+ Years implementing security platforms on top of SaaS or HaaS products
  • 5+ Years with vulnerability management and log analysis tools
  • 5+ Years of AWS, GCP or Azure demonstrated ability inclusive of security practices in cloud operations and managing automated awareness tools
  • 3+ years project management ability and demonstrated success in security project rollout
  • Knowledge applying regulatory guidelines such as NIST, PCI, NERC, ISO, HIPAA and application to system architecture and design
  • 5+ Years of application development testing experience in agile driven development using tooling such as GitHub, Bitbucket, Artifactory and dynamic code analysis

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $140,000 to $240,000 per year, depending on the level: Staff, Sr Staff, Principal.

Compensation for this role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location, and may fall outside of the range shown.
