Sr Staff Product Engineer (Cloud)

This role will be a part of the Cloud, Infrastructure, and Reliability Engineering organization. Our mission is to protect, operate, and continuously improve Disney’s experiences, products, & services focusing on availability, latency, automation, & cross-company collaboration.
The cloud first strategy has driven extreme growth across the cloud providers, platforms, and tools teams use across the enterprise to deliver Disney Experiences. This team will be responsible for engineering platforms, services, and managing the strategic relationships with our cloud, observability, engineering tooling, and CDN providers. They will also be charged with identifying cost savings opportunities and sharing cost savings strategies across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate will have a history of “hands on” top level engineering and providing technical direction on enterprise level projects. Exemplary leadership and communication abilities (both verbal and written) are a must; this role will partner closely with business and technology executives in delivering systems which meet and exceed business objectives.
Responsibilities :
- Leads the market analysis of products, platforms, and features released by Cloud Providers and tool vendors
- Manages the governance process to coordinate and prioritized the feedback for feature requests and enhancements to the Cloud Providers, tool vendors, and platform engineering teams from the segment stakeholders
- Works with engineering leaders to analyze the cloud data to help drive business/technical decisions, forecasting, and optimizations
- Leads engagements with TWDC Segment leaders and works with team to translate into requirements into POC and working solutions
- Leads the team to Identification and tracking segment & program issues across the Cloud providers, tools vendors, and platforms
- Creates functional prototypes offering a solution in conjunction with engineering teams
- Leads team representing Disney on engineering community meetings
- Performs market and industry analysis of trends and conditions
- Performs analysis of feasibility, cost, and return on investment for product ideas
- Manage the budget requirements for projects and has team prepare PAR’s for funding
- Aligns with finance to develop chargeback/allocation models for recovery of service offerings
- Leads communities across the segments around cloud, cost optimizations, and tooling best practices
- Oversee the lifecycle of products from inception to operationalization
- Takes calculated risks
- Excellent interpersonal, business development and communication skills are an absolute must with a demonstrated ability to work well with engineering, creative and marketing leaders, including the ability to thoughtfully present to senior executives.
Basic Qualifications :
- 7 years experience in software engineering, product engineering, data engineering or systems engineering team
- 4 years cloud experience
- Expert knowledge of cloud providers (AWS, Google, and Azure) to build solutions
- Expert knowledge of engineering platforms and tools
- Ability to work with large data sets for analysis and interpretation of business results
- Can lead SCRUM/Lean Agile frameworks
- Excellent presentation and communication skills to executives and technical teams
- Ability to resolve conflict
- Takes calculated risks and makes sound decisions
- Ability to influence segments
- Prioritizes work for agile teams, making tradeoffs as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing software development lifecycle platforms and tools
- Excellent written and verbal communications, proven ability to develop and deliver presentations geared for Senior and Executive Management
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and proven experience managing teams in highly matrixed organizations
- Working knowledge of advanced scripting and programing languages such as Python, Go, C++, Ruby, or JAVA or working knowledge of data systems such as Snowflake, Databricks, RedShift, Splunk, or other data platforms
- Proven ability to manage budgets
- Experience with cloud application development platforms, tools and utilities
- Experiencing managing multiple engineering projects across public and private cloud solutions
Required Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Data Science
- Certification in one or more cloud providers
Preferred Education :
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science
