Sr Product Development Engineer / Scientist
As a Senior Product Development Engineer / Scientist on the Orthobiologics R&D team you will apply your experience as both engineer and scientist with a focus on biomaterials in spine and orthopedics to drive market leading products. You will work within a team of highly motivated individuals and lead cross-functional teams to design and execute activities in support of new product or process related projects. A minimum of 3-6 years of relevant experience is required for this position.
THE ROLE:
- Leading a project team to develop original concepts for new product development in Orthobiologics and translate these concepts into prototypes and beyond
- Execute requirements of new product development project plans within a Design Control environment with creativity, resourcefulness and accountability to timelines and budgets
- May include significant laboratory work, for example to develop manufacturing processes, fabricate prototypes and test prototypes
- Verify that designs meet functional and performance specifications, such as may include both in vitro and in vivo testing models
- Interface with vendors and/or Manufacturing/Operations on technical issues while supervising designs throughout the manufacturing process
- Significant involvement in design transfer to Manufacturing/Operations and on-going support after commercialization
- Effectively interact with interdepartmental personnel and teams such as, Marketing, Purchasing, and Operations to uphold project plans and achieve project objectives
WHO YOU ARE:
- Bachelor's Degree in combination with relevant experience
- Sr Product Development Engineer has 3-6 years' experience in medical devices
- Experience with new product development and development of testing or analytical methods
- Experience with relevant manufacturing processes and/or significant interaction with manufacturing vendors
- Must be willing and able to travel domestically as needed, up to 20%
- Must be able to work at both Irvine and Carlsbad locations when needed
NICE TO HAVES:
- Master's Degree in Science or Engineering
- Experience in Orthobiologics or regenerative technologies
