Software Engineering Manager, Core Product (Remote)

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will drive all technical aspects of software delivery for our firmware, including requirements definition and refinement, design, estimation, implementation, unit and system-level testing, as well as deployment. The Core Product team is responsible for crafting and implementing features that improve the reliability, simplicity, security, and performance of our products. Our projects are driven by technological innovation and developer creativity in addition to market demands, giving you the structure and freedom to pursue projects you are most passionate about. With millions of people using Meraki products around the world, your work will have a significant impact from the day it is deployed!
As a Software Engineering Manager you will:
- Mentor junior engineers and encourage the professional growth of everyone on the team.
- Partner with Product Management and Product Engineering teams.
- Be responsible for growing the team, retaining talent, and providing technical direction and career development opportunities.
- Collaborate with engineers across product teams to architect features that delight our customers.
- Foster a culture of quality, teamwork, and inclusiveness.
You are an ideal candidate if you have:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- 2+ years of leadership experience on projects involving meaningful planning and coordination
- Experience with C++ and Linux
- The ability to work and collaborate across multiple product lines
Bonus points for:
- Expertise in networking
- Experience with embedded systems development such as Yocto and buildroot
- Experience developing Linux kernel space code
- Experience working with third party vendors and contractors
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, and Jenkins
- Experience managing agile projects and using agile methodologies such as Scrum and/or Kanban

Compensation Range:
$160,300—$232,900 USD

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
