Department OverviewAt Motorola Solutions we are helping solve some of the biggest challenges facing public safety organizations today. The Data and Common Services team builds software solutions that enable other products in the Command Central suite to meet their customers needs. Our goals are to help public safety professionals easily store and retrieve all the information they need to be able to do their jobs safely and successfully. We work with cutting edge AI in video, audio and analytics combined with advanced modern search technologies to deliver on our mission.
Common Query is a cloud-based microservice application, built to enable public safety & enterprise customers to search the critical data needed to save lives. We work alongside application teams to design and build application interfaces to search for the data they need and provide them with the most up to date information to allow our customers to make critical operational decisions. Our application must scale and provide low latency to our customers as seconds matter. At the same time, the product enables client applications to manage multiple, disparate query application interfaces with a unified application interface. The Common Query team works with the State Query application which enables customers to search for information stored in State Databases, like warrants and criminal justice information.
Our microservices are built on top of Kubernetes & Azure Cloud. Applications must scale horizontally as our customers' needs expand and our capabilities increase. Our Stack is mostly C# & Angular, with additional technologies such as: Azure Service Bus, Azure Cosmos Document Database.

What You Should Bring:
To excel in our team as a Sr Software Engineer, you should have:
A demonstrable passion for the craft of software development
Knowledge in tools such as GitHub, Visual Studio for building, storing, and reviewing code
A history demonstrating a team-based approach to problem solving
Experience defining contracts for coordinating development of software projects across multiple teams
A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the quality of the software you create
5-8 years of experience in software development, including active or recent C# experience
Strong understanding of REST based API design
Even better if you have:
Interest and/or experience in the Public Safety Industry
Interest and/or experience in cloud-based architecture
Experience with ASPNet Core
Passion to collaborate with our wider teams (e.g. product, UX, support) to think strategically about how to solve problems for our users
